Red face Me again !!!

I have been doing cards for about a year now, but 3-D cards. I am now starting to stamp cards and wondered what is best to color in your stamped image, chalks, ink (What kind), Prismacolor pencils....?

It really just depends on the look you want. Prismacolor pencils are great for softer, more subtle looks and make shading very easy. For a water color look I like to use SU ink pads (squeeze the top and bottom together so the ink gets on the top) and pick up the color using SU blender pens. I'm sure other inks and blender pens work well also, I just like to use these. For bolder colors I like to use tombow or SU markers.
At least for me, experimenting was the best teacher.
Have fun and as "they" say "do what you love and love what you do"!

I love using alcohol markers (copics, prismacolor premier) or prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil or odorless mineral spirit. The alcohol markers do take a little while to get used to but the results are awesome.

I started with pencils, and then Copics. I never use the pencils anymore, I love the markers.

Another vote for Copics. I would never buy a stamp that required coloring, until I tried Copics. now that is all I will buy. I love them!

I think a good colored pencil set and a watercolor set are the best ways to START to color...Then, you can move into Copics. However, I encourage you to take a class in Copics. It REALLY helps!

I agree - it depends on the look you are going for. I love, love, love my copics for coloring in people images - like my Bella stamps. I really like using chalks and watercoloring using the top of my inkpad as my pallet.

Oh, there are so many ways to do it - why stick to just one!

Thanks girls. I guess though if you use chalks, you would have to seal your image after, so that the chalk would not spread or run or whatever you call it?

Since I am just starting, I will into some markers, maybe not as expensive as the copic ones, just so that I can get a feel for them.

Thanks again.

When I have used chalk on cards, I have never sealed them. I don't know if that's the "proper" way or not. I have cards I've given my husband that are several years old and the chalks still look fresh!

I love Prismacolored Pencils with OMS, if you try this technique I really recommend Gina K Designs #120 White cardstock- it really takes colored pencils and blending to another level. The paper I mentioned is also wonderful for Markers- it doesn't bleed thru. I personally don't do Markers, but I love Watercolor pencils, prismacolor Pencils, chalk and several other less popular forms for small areas to color in.

I've tried the prismcolored pencils. I like them except for the fact that when you sharpen them it seems that the lead inside is broken in several pieces...very frustrating to me, so I went back to my trusty crayola pencils!

Went shopping for arts and crafts supplies today. My DS bought me the 60 crayola pencil kit. Can't wait to get home to try them. Will let you know how it goes.
