Default Mats

Does anyone know of a good mat to lay down under your project. I have a folding table that I work on and sometimes it just doesn't allow me the even pressure for my stamping. I tried a search of mats or cutting mats on the site, but could not find anything.

You might consider looking for a large plastic-ish cutting board (like the ones Pampered Chef sells) and put that on top of your table, then put one of the nicer self-healing cutting mats on top of that. I would think that the cutting board would provide you with a nice solid surface and the cutting mat would provide a smoother surface to stamp on.

Do you mean just for the stamping part? I just use a foam mouse pad that I got at staples. They are really cheap for the "plain" ones. HTH

I've used craft foam or a magazine, and those work fine.

I used to use a folding table and, because it "gives" when pressure is applied my images were often uneven. So, my DH made me a board (sized to fit SU's grid paper) out of masonite (I think that's what it's called ... he actually bought a big sheet at Home Depot intending to cover the whole table but he gave the wrong measurements so we adapted and he cut them to fit the grid paper ... he made several and I use the rest to line wire shelves throughout the house)

Anyway, I adhered 2-3 sheets of grid paper (for a little extra thickness) to the board and then covered it with wax paper. This still allows me to see the grid but a baby wipe easily cleans off stray ink marks. Of course, eventually the wax paper needs to be replaced but if I'm not to rough with the rubbing it lasts quite awhile. But, of course, the best part is that I get great impressions! Oh ... I also place scrap paper (usually recyled from the printer or junk mail) underneath the board for stamping off or testing images.

I'll see if I can find a photo ... we downsized in July and sold the table (I use the D/R table and still use the board too). We're actually re-organizing since I recently got several Jetmax cubes and they were placed mish-mash style wherever we could fit them and now we are trying a more focused approach.

Good luck finding something that works for you!

Thanks Tina. I have a Home Depot right by me. My table will have to last awhile so this will be a solution. I tried to make a bunny card with the tall grass in the background - some of the background in the middle didn't quite make it on the paper. lol.
