I use a Big Shot and I love the Magic Mat! Have had mine since they first were introduced by scrapbook dot com. I do not use the SU machine, but as stated above, it replaces 1 of the cutting plates in my Big Shot. I use a shim of thick c/s beneath mine, but that will likely vary amongst users & machines.
yes I LOVE the magic mat!! I didn't need a shim it was actually quite tight at first {cuts awesomely!} , I primarily use mine in the Sizzix Switch but also the Big shot

do you have any problems with the magic mat warping? Do you have to flip it after using it to keep it flat?

I have had some warping but heat does flatten it. However, I did wear one out, it separated in the center so no amount of heat would fix it. I did also wear out my big shot after 14 years so there is that. My Sizzix Switch was originally so tight that the first use warped the plates so I immediately bought a magic mat for it. Replacing those plates is expensive.
I have a Magic Mat that I use in a Vagabond and a Big Shot, and I also need to use a shim with it. It's perfect for open dies because it does not leave an impression on the back side of the die cut, like the clear plates will when they accumulate a lot of cut lines.
Its really nice that if there's any warping, I can flatten it back out with my heat gun.
For very intricate dies, I am too impatient to run any die through more than twice - so the chrome plate gets used for those instead of the Magic Mat.
I use it in the big shot and just picked one up for my upline, she used it in the SU machine ;)
it replaces 1 clear plate
What sandwich do you use for the big shot and what sandwich does your up line use for the SU cut and emboss? I have both and would love to get a Magic Matt for both. Thanks
OK, I'll admit it, I have no idea what a Magic Mat is or what it is made of. I have a Big Shot Foldaway, which I love, but does have a different sandwich than the regular Big Shot. If it would illiminate the little marks on the back of my die cuts, I would love it. Would work in my machine? If it just replaces one cutting plate, that would be wonderful. Where can I purchase one?

The Magic Mat is sold on Scrapbook . com
There are various sizes of the mat to fit different machines.
I have Magic Mats for a Big Shot, a Cuttlebug, and a Sizzix Switch. I love them so much that I bought back ups last time Scrapbook.com had free shipping. It replaces the bottom clear plate for me. I have to use a shim with my Big Shot but it is REALLY old (like 12 or 13 years) so it may be a little bit "loose" I only use this Big Shot for die cutting though. For some reason, I have never had any warping with either the Sizzix Switch or Cuttlebug Magic Mat but I do with the one I use in the Big Shot. Maybe it is because that one is now really tight with that shim. It straightens right out with the heat gun, though, and it is oddly satisfying to heat it up to make it flat.

same sandwich for both, the magic mat replaces clear plate or #3 for SUC&E
incidentally I bought the SU platform/plates to go in my Switch because I don't love the LARGE plates, so when I saw that the same plate from my big shot work in the Switch I was sold! ;)

I bought 2 of these in the standard size to fit the Big Shot nearly 2 years ago. I've never needed to use the 2nd one, as the 1st one is still performing beautifully. My Big Shot has several years of use, with a peeling handle, which could explain why I need the cardstock shim for wafer dies & cardstock. Mine has never warped. It's quiet, no crackling. I flip it only when I think of it, probably every 20-30 uses or more. It just doesn't need babying like the clear plates. I've never considered heating it as I have no reason to do so. (((love it)))

Good to know. Just purchased one. and will see how it works for me, although I've not had much problem with the regular plates.
I just got mine and used it a couple times. It works fine, too, but don't see that it works better than the plate. It gets grooves in it, too and bends after just one use. Not seeing the value, but it does replace one of the plates, so it gives me an extra just in case.
