How long do you hold onto your crafty magazines? What do you do with them when you are done with them? I have a drawer full and I'm trying to decide if I want to pitch them, donate them, try to yard sale them, or if I want to tear them apart and keep the pages that inspire me in a binder and pitch the rest. I'm leaning toward the latter.....but I feel odd about tearing a magazine apart!
I have kept most of mine, but I've only been stamping for two years. If you're looking to purge your stash of magazines, but want to keep what inspires you, why not scan the pages and keep them digitally? That way, you can keep what you love and then still be able to yard sale or donate them. If you want to tear out the pages you are inspired by, you can donate the rest of the magazines to a school or daycare- they are always looking for crafty supplies, and magazines are fun to create with.
I keep mine, but I don't have so many that I don't know where to put them, I've been collecting about 3-4 magazines for the past year and a half.
I have those magazine storage bins and sort them by month, no matter what year, so it's easier to find an issue related to the coming season. I find myself going back and being inspired by some last year's issues as well as the recent ones and since so much time went by, it's like reading a new issue. Sometimes I get an issue of a magazine that has the season so far ahead (like Christmas cards in a magazine that I received in August) that I enjoy it more when the theme is more inspiring so read it, file it, then I revisit it November.
I can't seem to get rid of mine. I still go back through them, even the older ones because something new will strike me everytime. I have them in those nice magazine holders from Ikea and keep them on a shelf in my craft space.
I find I look through them seasonally, and I try to keep them organized that way as well.
That didn't help you with your question, did it...
I keep all the issues of my favourite magazine and only keep the occasional issue of other brands. I keep all of my issues of my favourite magazine because I do reference them all the time. If I don't look at a magazine in six months, then I find it a new home. I've been known to rip my fav pages out of some of them.
I keep them for a few years then get rid of all but the most recent year. Just takes up too much space and I find that I don't go back for ideas once the mag. is 2-3 years old.
