Papertrey and Gina K both have great white paper. I have used both and they are now the only white paper I use. Papertrey also has black, but I haven't tried it yet. But, if it is the same quality as the white, you shouldn't have a problem with it!!!

I agree with Papertrey's paper. I have never tried Gina K's.
I bought Papertrey's white paper, and loved it so much, I started buying all their other coloured papers too, as money allows.

I have PTI cardstock and like it. But when I tried the Pure Luxury paper from Gina K., I really liked how the color from the pencils just glided around on the paper and blended so easily. It's the only paper I use now for coloring techniques.

Has anyone tried the Georgia Pacific Card stock paper that Wal-Mart sells?
I love it and it is 110 wt., acid free and 150 sheets per pack. I don't remember what I paid but I think it was like $4 or $5.

I bought some and it's nowhere near as nice as the PTI paper. I ended up giving the ream of paper to my husband for him to use. For me, I'm sticking with PTI!

I have tried EVERYTHING...LOL...except Neenah actually...though I would like to, I hear people LOVE it for Copics.

I use PTI (Papertrey) white and cream for all my card bases and quite a bit of coloring....I use GinaK 120# for coloring with Copics and I use the Georgia Pacific for my work-mat/testing area. I haven't touched my SU white since buying PTI!

As for colors...I can't get away from SU because it's nice quality and I love most of the colors, but I supplement with PTI...and I still buy some Bazzill for Die-cutting.

Default my choice of paper

Hi everyone, I just bought the neenah solar classic white 80 lb paper, and I REALLY love it! they also have it in 110 LB. I found it was a little thick for me. anyway, I live in AZ. I have found the paper at Paper Plus, kelly papers, and xpedex. it runs about $22.95 for 250 sheets. pretty good price in my book.

good luck!

SU White is so flimsy in comparison to PTI and the GinaK 120#. Also it's not really WHITE...and it's got a glossy coating.

Can't speak for all the other brands....as after finding those two, my CS supply is good enough...LOL

Are you using the Gina K for pencils/gamsol and if so do you use the 120 or 80lb? Thanks!

Yep, that's my favorite, too! I prefer the 110 lb, but some of my friends call it "poster board" LOL

Borden & Riley Paris Bleedproof Paper For Pens has always been a great fairly inexpensive paper. I've used it for years, it takes a lot of abuse, erasing and what not. Like the name implies it is bleed proof. Works great with colored pencil and gamsol too.

Funny you should ask..I was just checking to see about the Copics. I couldn't remember. They do fine on the front of course but some of the more intense colors show through on the back. Another paper that is made for Copics is the Canson Manga Paper. There are different grades, the 150lb 9"x12" is really heavy duty. It's not a crisp white however. I use that now for pen and ink work. I found some at Michael's on sale for $4 wish I had found more.

Default so many out there

But I have to say that even though I am a SU demo, PTI is the GREATEST white cardstock I have been able to find. I love it and it is sturdy enough to use as a card base as well as for the images. It has a great feel to it and not slick like a lot of the white papers out there so your ink does not smear. It is only like $6 or so for a pack of 40 sheets and it is so worth it..... I buy it in 4 packs at a time to combine my shipping costs.

In another thread someone said that Cougar Opaque is used at Conventions for Prismacolor pencils and Gamasol demos. I emailed Marco Paper and they said this paper is great for this technique and said another option is Beckett Expression which is a little smoother but more $$$. I haven't tried it yet.

Yes, I only use the Pure Luxury from Gina K for pencil/gamsol coloring. If I'm stamping an image that will be layered onto the cardbase, I use the 80lb. If I just do a simple card with no layering, then I use the 120lb. It's amazing how smooth it is an how wonderfully the pencils blend, especially Koh-i-nors!

Default SU Whisper white does have its advantages...

I love PTI paper too, as it is so much more sturdier than SU white. I am a SU demo and have never liked the SU white because of its glossy finish and smearing ink. BUT.... I have come to appreciate it for brayering- I have been trying to "channel" Michelle Zindorfs (I am not worthy...) brayering technique, and it wasn't until I tried it with the SU paper that I got anywhere as close to her results. Must be the glossy finish that I hate so much!

I find this thread interesting as I too am a SU demo and feel that the whisper white cardstock is a bit flimsy for card bases so I don't make many white base cards.

However, I have a customer who is a graphic artist and she LOVES Stampin' Up!'s white and vanilla cardstock! She prints out all her inside greetings onto the cardstock and said she thinks it is the best she has found (for this purpose).

I guess it just depends on what you are using the white cardstock for.

In addition to the Pure Luxury White and Ivory, Gina K is going to be releasing black next month and a rich chocolate brown the following month. I believe those will both be in the layering and base weights, like the white and ivory. :-D

PTI cardstock is definitely the best quality. I use the cheaper white cardstock like form Walmart for using as an edging under a good cardstock where only a small amount is showing. Also it works for stamping if you are not doing alot of coloring on it and then cutting it out. It is like anything, you get what you pay for and when you are doing so much work why not use the best? Also if you make any of Lauren Meaders templates for boxes you could never get good results using a cheap cardstock.

Another thumbs up for www.marcopaper.com
I use their Cougar 80*, Beckett 80* and Utopia #80 for bases. They have tons of great cardstock.

I have to say that I LOVE PTI carstock. I use it all the time and have orderd lots of colors. I LOVE it. LOVE it. LOVE it.

I recently purchased some SU cardstock (not white) and like it a lot too.

I've not looked at Gina K yet because I'm pretty thrilled with PTI.

*chuckle*

Everybody's got their favorite, of course. ;)

I'm a die-hard Neenah Class Crest in Solar White fan! Both 80 and 110#! Their Natural white is a lovely vanilla/cream, too!

Works beautifully for colored pencils, and Copics (it is not alcohol "bleed" proof. However, even if you buy paper made especially for alcohol markers, it may indeed be "bleed" proof, but, not necessarily "show" proof; the alcohol ink may not bleed through the back and onto whatever is beneath the paper, but, it may still show through.)

Default PTI White

I have to say this is a very interesting thread.... I commented earlier about how I love the PTI white and it make a point.... I have never made card bases out of white until I recently found this paper.... now, if you look in my gallery, most of my Christmas Card Challenge cards are on white bases..... I would never have done that before with the SU WW, in fact last holiday, my friend and I were making the comment that we didn't know how people made white cards with such flimsy cardstock, but then found PTI online and ordered, and the light dawned!

I bought a ream of white cardstock from Sam's and was SO disappointed! Pretty much every sheet had at least one dark fleck, some had more, and some on both sides! That's why I'm looking for a reasonably priced good white cardstock to use.

I love PTI white and black (and all the other colors they offer!)
I also have Gina K Pure Luxury but I haven't tried it with Gamsol/colored pencils yet.

I also have Becket Expression and I really like that with gamsol.

i just ordered from PTI and a pack of the super - fabulous - amazing white cardstock is like $6 for 40 sheets..... i personally think that is a good price when you think SU WW is like 5.50 and so flimsy compared..... it this SU is supposed to be 80lbs and PTI is 120lbs..... if you havent tried it yet, i think it is worth it for sure to see what you think.....
