Something just happened here at our house moments ago and I just had to come on here and share. A friend of my daughters came over and I was making a BDay card for my niece. When I first started making cards and was not really all that good at it, I made this friend a birthday card. I remember the card and I remember thinking at the time that she might not like it or it's not good enough (I had certainly seen much nicer cards) and then thinking she would probaby just glance at it and throw it away. Well, she looked at this card I was making tonight and said with a smile "I still have the card you made me for my birthday and it's hanging on the wall in my room. I think of you everytime I look up at it" Well, I almost cried. Made me forget about my long day at work and finish up this other card with a smile. I just wanted to share. Thanks!!

I have to agree with you. I always kept a box of cards at work for birthdays and thinking of you just so I had something on hand. Many of those cards are still pinned up in the individual cubicles like artwork. They always seemed to cherish the fact that I would give them one of my creations. How nice that your friend passed this along to you. So you see it isn't just the card style or skill, it's that you thought enough of a person to make the effort.
That's why we do what we do, right? The first card I ever made was for my BFF that was already really into cardmaking. I was NEVER gong to make cards, I kept telling her, so when I broke down and made one, it had to be for her, naturally. She has it on a shelf in her studio to this day, and it makes me warm and fuzzy every time I see it. When someone validates you that much, it makes the nay-sayers not matter at all...
Isn't that neat! It is what makes cardmaking so much fun. I love it when someone tells me they save every one of my cards. When I know that I always try to send them the very best ones! Your daughter certainly has a nice friend!
That is honestly about the sweetest thing I've ever heard. I have no idea how you avoided crying. I don't know you, your daughter's friend and have no idea what the card looked like and I'm sitting here turning my shirt sleeve into a wet puddle. Then again, just like Billy Bob in Varsity Blues...I cry because I'm a crier.
