FYI... If, when staying in Vegas, you see multiple signs around your hotel advertising the country's largest stamp show which will be held the following day in your hotel.... Note that it is probably a postage stamp show.

Yep. I went to the damn thing expecting row after row of wood mounted wonder... Not so much!

Sadly, this was three years ago and I still to this day get invited back... and I'm pretty sure it's being held next week because I just got the post card a week or so ago!!!

SweetMissDaisy 04-15-2006 10:09 PM

Oh my gosh, Sarah, thanks for the warning!! :) That would have been a big bummer for sure!!

Scrapbook Stores in Las Vegas

Good morning everyone!

I know that there are some SU ladies from Las Vegas on this list. I will be attending a course there the end of the month and do not have much free time. I know there are a few Scrapbook stores there but I was wondering if someone local could tell me the best ones to check out.
I am so excited the UPS man will be here on Tuesday with a big box of goodies for me! I am so excited to try out all the new stamps I ordered.

Have a great day and thanks for your help!

LOL I don't know the exact address but I visited one in 02. If you go down the main strip to the, well heck I always call it the space needle but that's not it LOL> You'll see what I mean. Anyway at that intersection where you basically dead end, turn left. It's down that way on the right. Probably ten miles.

It may have been Pebbles in My Pocket

copsmonkey 09-03-2006 07:35 PM

Yup, that was Pebbles! The street is Sahara (The Stratosphere). I haven't been there since they reopened with new management, but the one on Russell has a LOT of stuff.
Do you know where your class is? There are 2 on the west side of town that I like a lot. One is called jullie Jane and it is at Charleston and Rampart, the other is at the 215 and Tropicana. Let me know if you need more info.

LorrieG 09-04-2006 04:10 AM

My conference is at the MM Grand which is where I am staying. We are renting a car for a couple of days. I did hear of a Scrapbook superstore. How is that one? I have been to to Vegas before but that was before I started scrapping and stamping. I am looking for an actual album with Las Vegas on it.

Thanks for your help

Lorrie

jenns1967 09-04-2006 05:58 AM

I was going to post a thread as well - I'm headed to Vegas next week for a conference and wondered about shops for stamps, scraps, etc....I am staying at the Flamingo Hilton and that's where my conference is located. Anything 'near' there?

SuAnn 09-04-2006 12:05 PM

Here is a stamp store in addition to the scrapbook store that is in the same general area (maybe a mile and a half from Scrappin Time). It may be a 10 to 15 minute drive from MGM or the Flamingo Hilton (depending on traffic). Mapquest them and you will see how easy it is to get to both these stores.

Las Vegas Stamp Stores

I am heading off to Vegas (from Alberta Canada) next month and I would love to know what stamp and scrap stores I need to hit to satisfy my cravings and feed my paper crafting addiction....

Please let me know where you've been and what they have and if you think a visit is worth it!

Thanks in advance!

Dyu 10-09-2006 10:17 AM

My dds & I went to one when we were there in June. We took a taxi from downtown. Cost us a bundle but we had a blast. The name was For Keeps Scrapbooking. I think there are a couple of others. Try google. Also, if you are going this weekend, there is a rubber stamp convention. http://www.rubberstampexpo.com/nvinfo.html How I wish I was going!

Dyu 10-09-2006 10:18 AM

Also the Cocoa Cola Store on the strip has themed related paper.

ninatar 10-09-2006 10:36 AM

There are two main stamp stores - Viva Las Vegas (huge and close to the Strip) and the art stamp store out by the airport called Las Vegas Art Stamps.

While Los Vegas Art Stamps is smaller, if you like to look at a wide array of inks, and "art stamp" materials, with a store owner who can dispense good advice - that's the place to go. I think I spent $50 in cab fare to get there from the Strip, but it was wonderful.

CelineeBeenie 10-09-2006 10:40 AM

If you search this forum and plug in the word "Vegas", you'll find lots of threads for stores in Las Vegas

Here's a link to one of them:

Happy Shopping!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
:)

Geribeari 10-09-2006 11:33 AM

Be wary and call them first, I was just there and went to a few that were listed in the phone book. Two of them were closed. Viva Las Vegas was open but it was a Sunday and they were closed. Did not bother to go back.. it looked really small from the outside. Their website is probably better, but as I said I did not go inside.

SuAnn 10-09-2006 11:58 AM

Here is the address for the stamp store I am familiar with:
Las Vegas Art Stamps
2925 N. Green Valley Parkway
Henderson, NV
(702)367-0411
Closed on Sunday.

The scrapbooking store that is less than 2 miles from the stamp store is:
Scrappin Time
3317 E. Russell Road
Las Vegas
(702)898-7414

It is expensive to take a cab to these locations so I hope you have a rental car.

Lisa Lisa 10-09-2006 12:20 PM

You might PM Sharon Worley (user name too) She works as a LSS in Vegas... and she is SUPER BRILLIANT! :)

Lisa Lisa 10-09-2006 12:23 PM

I will be travelling to Las Vegas in the next few days and was wondering if anyone knows of some good stamp stores in the area - I haven't had much luck with my Internet searches!!

TIA -

Mahloumel 04-14-2007 04:39 PM

Here are some threads that came up when I searched for "Vegas" on SCS. They are fairly recent so the stores should still be around. :)

Going to Vegas, Any Scrap/Stamp Stores

I am going to Vegas at the end of the month. Where do I need to drag my DH to? I have been to Vegas twice before but never to any scrap/stamp stores. My DH keeps saying we are going to Vegas to get married though we are already married but he keeps saying he wants to get married by Elvis! Any ideas?

NancyK. 06-01-2007 06:00 AM

I just returned from Vegas - they used to have several stores, but most are closed. Las Vegas Art Stamps in Henderson just announced their closing - don't remember the date, but you can probably check their web site.

THe store I visited was Viva Las Vegas Stamps, about a mile from the strip - call them for directions as it is on a little side street in a white cinder block building - you have to ring the bell to get inside. (I took a cab from the Sahara and it cost me about $7 one way - should have just taken my car!! But is was just too far to walk in the heat. THey have floor to ceiling stamps, but most are of the unusual kind. Check out their website to get an idea of what they carry. Praqctically no paper, embellishments or other stuff like that.

Hope this helps..

Nancy

Stamp stores

I am going to Vegas this summer and am wondering if there are any good stamp/scrap stores worth having a look at. Anyone know?

kikikaren 06-01-2007 09:58 AM

I am going Viva Las Vegas Stamps in August! WOO HOO! I am a horrible gambler and my dh thinks that being in the stamp store will keep us from losing money------Little does he know that the money will still be "lost" on stamps! HAHAHAHA! I was told that it's too far to walk to and that I should take a cab there from our hotel (MGM).

TruCarMa 06-01-2007 10:59 AM

Well, I hate to make anyone jealous, but I'm going there NEXT WEEKEND with three girlfriends... http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...ocentsmily.gif

Are you going to give us the scoop? OR is it a case of "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"?

Saints 06-02-2007 10:33 PM

Carole please come back to this post and let us know how the store really was. Is this the only store worth going to look at.

banana.cream.pie 06-02-2007 11:18 PM

DITTO the VIVA Las Vegas stamps!!! I plan to visit whenever I go to Sin City again!

I just ordered from them online. Cool stuff! I hear that they have a special room in the back for 'ADULT STAMPS' (uh, NOT PG-RATED..if ya catch my drift!) :-D

Johanna7 06-03-2007 04:32 AM

No need for cab

Sasseybee and others. I was there in January and if you are staying at the MGM, just get a day pass on the Deuce bus ($5.00 for 24 hours), then go north to Sahara Blvd. and then take the (I think) 204 bus going east on Sahara, get off at the Commercial Centre. It is a small strip plaza with businesses, cross the street (yes, there is a light) and you will see a High School which looks more like a factory and has a day care centre as well.

Go a block or so east, past Zinger's Night Club, then go to north, it is less than a block and there you have it. Ring the bell twice and they will open the door. You will be greeted by dogs and cats. They take in rescue animals and the animals love attention.

The place is huge, lots of nooks and crannies. It is very easy to spend $$$ but the stamps themselves are quite reasonable. The couple that runs it is very nice and will help you find what you need. They have stamps from all over the world.

The reason for the bus ($5 for 24 hours) is that the money spent on taxis is better invested in stamps there. You will also get a free unmounted stamp.

Oh, the address is Sahara Blvd but it isn't actually facing Sahara Blvd.

Good Luck. We sure found it an interesting experience and got some really nice stamps. If you like animal stamps, they have so many, it will make your head spin. Same with Las Vegas stamps and those from all over the world.

Good Luck. You will love it.

TruCarMa 06-03-2007 04:32 AM

I will definitely share the scoop upon my return. If you go to their website, you can take a virtual tour of the store -- I don't think I've ever seen so many stamps in one place!

Geribeari 06-03-2007 04:35 AM

I looked up stamp and craft store in Vegas last time I was there. ALL of them are closed but Viva las Vegas store so dont go by the yellow pages. Spent 2 hrs looking for the others.

Cynamom 06-03-2007 05:53 AM

It's a good thing to always check to be sure these places are still open.. not the one you are all talking about, obviously it's open, but these places do tend to close rather quickly. I know lots around here have shut their doors in the last year or so, but you still see their names in lots of places.

Johanna7 06-03-2007 07:06 AM

Vegas Stamps

Most hotels in Vegas charge a $1 per day compulsory charge for the use of the phone - local calls only of course. They have some very thick telephone directories and you can call the stores. You can even call vivalasvegastamps, they are in the phone book and he will give you directions. He will tell you the bus numbers and tell you to get the pass as well.

As for the daily (24 hour from first usage) bus pass, if you want to get your money's worth, after visiting the vivalasvegastamps, you can take the bus back to the strip, get on the Duece (double decker bus) going south as far as it goes. Very interesting trip. Then take the Duece bus in the stand beside it at the terminal, I think the strip Duece is #13 and the other one #14, also a duece bus and it goes around to all the off price shopping malls. You can get off and visit one, get the bus again and go to another and so on. There are a lot of really good outlets with great prices from very famous names.

Well worth the time and cheaper than feeding the slots. Also, the shoppers bus (as most call it) also passes the new huge car rental terminal. It sure makes for a very interresting and very cheap sight seeing tour.

There is a Michael's on Russel Road east I think, please check and you can take that bus (not a deuce or double decker) from the terminal as well. They sell a huge guide to the buses you can take and it is only 25 cents and well worth a read to see all the places you can visit, especially on a daily bus pass. You can go downtown (and back as well) and see the evening light and sound show which is spectacular. No charge. Then simply take the deuce bus back to your hotel.

There are places to eat downtown too and most are quite reasonable.

Good Luck.

ninatar 06-03-2007 08:33 AM

The last time I was there, I visited Vegas I went to the Art Stamp store by the airport (that's a long ways from the casinos). This store was breathtaking -small but filled with beautiful stamps, inks, papers.

While Viva Las Vegas stamps has more funny stamps that you can imagine, you can buy them on-line. The "other" store (I can't remember the name) was an artistic journey. The store owner showed me how to use fusible fibers, and all sorts of new techniques, and recommended a book "Return to Asia" based on the stamps I was admiring.
