I want a label maker. Is there a "better" one...or are they all the same? I know Michaels sells one.....I could use a coupon and save some money. But would one from an office store be better?
I'd look into how easy it is to get the replacement tapes, and go with that . I got my Brother one no problem, but I can only get the tapes mail-order which adds to the expense.
I have two of the electronic Dymo Letratag printers. I love these for labeling all my drawers and shelves. The tape runs between $7.00 and $8.00 per roll even at walmart.
blessings.
I too have a Brother P touch. I have had it for many years, but the tapes are pretty spendy. Check the cost of tape before buying! I love mine tho, it has the full alphabet and all the symbols you need.
I have a Brother P-Touch and can get the refills at Staples and I have a Dymo Letratag and get the refills for that one at Wal-Mart...Neither of the refills are cheap, but it is so worth it's cost for the perfect labels you can do!

The office supply stores sometimes run nice specials on label makers. I picked up a Brother P-Touch at Staples during a sale. To give you an idea on pricing, back in October, Staples had promotions on two models: one regularly $49.99 for $14.99 and another regularly $99.99 for $39.99. They currently have a couple of P-Touch models on sale: one regularly $49.99 for $29.99 and another regularly $29.99 for $9.99. (I haven't used either of the ones currently on special.)
I suspect it's like selling discounted printers and making a profit on the ink cartridges. With labelers, it's a way to sell refill tapes. I've been ordering the refills through Amazon.
Ii picked up p-touch at a Black Friday sale a couple of years ago. I have to really think about where I want my labels before I use the machine, refills are a bit pricey. But it's been worth it.
I've had my Brother P-Touch for about 10 years now and I absolutely Love it! My Staples has the replacement cartridges, so it's not a problem for me! Good Luck!!!
The Brother P-Touch line has acid-free TZ tapes. They are about 1/2" wide and print either black text on clear tape or black text on white tape. I haven't tried them yet. Maybe someone else will know about other brands.
I have a Brother "P" touch that I have had for a few years. I purchased it at Office Max. Just love it!
Here too, you can get tape refills online as well. Have to say it was one of the best non crafting items I have purchased, without the labels not sure I could find anything in my area : )

I have a pink P-Touch that was on sale for @ $10. Get my refills at Staples-there is one really close to my house. Buy the refills when they are on sale.(i.e. tax time, first of the year when people decide to get organized, etc.)
I have really made good use of this investment. I label all my embossing folder and punches. (Don't know why the manufacturers don't do this on their various products in case you want to make a duplicate at a later date.) Use it to note the size of paper needed to make a die cut. (stick this information on the side of my Sizzix dies) My refills last quite awhile. I have had my 'P' for over 3 yrs and have only replaced the tape twice.
