I just got this set and am playing around with it. I'm loving it -- I'm completely inept at 2 step stamping sets from SU and the clear acrylic is making this soooo much easier. What are your favorite color combos for the roses? I've looked in the gallery and am trying some of the combos I've seen there. I don't have all of the inks, so I am some what limited. But I do have quite a few pinks & purples. I am wishing I had Rose Red right now, as I only have Real Red.
What I'm finding is that the fourth step, if you are using pinks and reds, you can use a brown (stamped off once if it's really dark) and it will make a natural maroon/burgundy with all the red ink underneath it. So that means you only need 3 shades of red and/or pink.
Play around with stamping off, too. Ruby Red is actually a pretty warm pink when you stamp it off once. Stamping off a color on one layer and not on a subsequent layer allows you to get two layers out of one ink pad.
All in all, it's a fun set to play with and I haven't stamped a rose I didn't like with it yet!
I liked these colors with it the first time out: so saffron, morning marigold, groovy guava, ruby red, certainly celery, true thyme, always artichoke.
Now after reading this, I can't wait to try stamping off with different colors and the idea of using River Rock sounds very cool. I hope you ladies put these cards in your galleries, because I'm off to have a peek
