Default Just want to be sure on how I should unmount my new SU! stamps

I just received my first set of unmounted SU! stamps (or any unmounted for that matter!) I don't want to mount them on the wood. I already purchased EZ Mount so that I can use them on my acrylic blocks. I just wanted to make sure I know what I'm doing before I start, so...is this right?

1) My stamps have foam already attached. I need to remove that, right? To do so, I should put them in the microwave, but for how long? Should it come off pretty easily?

2) Once foam is off, place on EZ mount, trim, and ready to go.

Is that right? TIA for your help!!

1) My stamps have foam already attached. I need to remove that, right?Yes,if you purchased the regular ez mount. There are two types, ez mount which is 1/8" thick. Otherwise the ez mount would be designated or specified as ez mount thin which is 1/16" thick. To do so, I should put them in the microwave, but for how long? Try peeling the foam from the rubber, if it comes off easy, great! If not put in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds and it should peel off fairly easily. It's not unusual to have some residue left on the rubber. Sometimes it foam, or glue or icky sticky stuff. Just keep working on the residue it will come off w/some work. I used goo gone and can't say it really made much difference. Should it come off pretty easily?

2) Once foam is off, place on EZ mount, trim, and ready to go.

Is that right? TIA for your help!!
When you get ready to put the naked rubber on the ez mount, don't worry about keeping sets together, it's more important to get as many stamps on the sheet of ez mount as you can. Take a piece of scrap paper and play around w/the placement. You should be able to get about 20-30 stamps (medium to small size) per sheet. Also I hope you purchased a hot knife, I couldn't imagine cutting the stamps out by hand. Over the Xmas holidays I used 10 sheets of ez mount, much faster w/the hot knife.

You will be so happy w/going unmounted, the space saving along is amazing! Hope all this helps.

You shouldn't have to microwave to get the foam off...most of mine just peeled right off. Occasionally I have found some (usually older sets) where the foam is very sticky and comes off in chunks, in which case I leave the foam on and stick that to thin EZ mount (it's black). Oh and don't forget to dust the EZ mount with a bit of baby powder all around the stamp (use a paint brush) so it's not so sticky on your scissors. HTH!

I just unmounted all my SU stamps....wow...I love it. At first it is scary...but worth it for sure. I can find them and use them so much easier.

Yea! I just wanted to update and say that all went well. The foam backing actually peeled off pretty easily -- no microwave needed! The hardest part for me was trimming the stamps, but I'm sure I'll get better with practice. I tried them all out though and they stamped beautifully AND easily! I am really liking SU! stamps right now! Thanks to everyone here for your help!
