Exclamation It's not always about "We"

Oh my goodness... am I the only stamper out here who isn't married???? I'm getting so frustrated with stamping companies making stamp sets that only offer sentiments that use the term "We". "We've moved", "We wish you a ...", "Our thoughts are with you".

It's really frustrating to see stamp sets that I want to purchase and then can't use the sentiments because they don't apply to me. I would just love it if stamp companies would occasionally offer having both a "We" and an "I" option on the sentiments. Just throw in an extra stamp that says "I've moved" on a Moving stamp set or "My thoughts are with you" on a sympathy stamp set - that's all it would take to make the sets work for everyone. Imagine if stamp sets only came with the sentiments written for single people - that would be frustrating to people who have families - right? I realize you can't make everyone happy all of the time, and apparently.... there's not much demand for "I" sentiments, but maybe that's because no one is talking about the need for such stamps. I can't be the only person out there who's single and feels left out - or am I???

I'm preparing to move and have been looking for a "Moving" stamp set and just saw the new There She Goes sneak peek of "On the Move" (super cute by the way), but once again... I think I'll end up having to use my printer to make my own sentiment since I didn't see any sentiments for single people. Bummer

Thanks for hearing me out, and if I'm not alone on this issue... please... speak up... maybe someone will eventually hear us!!

I agree, I often find the sentiments included with sets just don't fit. It would be nice to see some variety.

I read this with interest because not that long ago I was bemoaning the fact that I couldn't find stamps that DID say "we!" But I can definitely see what you're saying especially for certain types of sentiments -- absolutely the moving one! I have never seen one for a single person.

I think they're out there, so hopefully you'll get some suggestions in this thread. I would guess that most of the time there will be an optional we/I within a set. Do you have an absolute favorite stamp company you purchase from frequently?? Maybe they'd love the suggestion for a thorough sentiment set from an individual perspective - you never know!

If you ever need Invitation stamps, WMS has provided both versions in this set: Join Us | Waltzingmouse Stamps

You might also try either printing a sentiment out with your computer or using a set with a lot of words or an alpha set to make your own.

Still, I agree that it would be much better if the stamp companies considers both sides of the coin!

The best solution would be more general phrases that omit pronouns. Ex: With deep sympathy, Wishing you a happy xxx, Moving soon, New address, etc. it's extremely frustrating. I also think it seems less odd for a married person to send a card with a singular sentiment (with MY deepest sympathy) and include two signatures than for me as a single person to send one that says "From our house to yours."

I'm married but I agree with Allison. MORE General phrases without pronouns.

Or try masking off the "WE" and replace it with an "I".

I know things like this are frustrating, but, of course, you can't please all of the people all of the time. No matter how they do it, they'll alienate one group or another.

I so agree! I'm a retired widow. There is no "we" - just me! But hard to find stamps with singular pronouns.

I completely agree and TBH I think there is going to a shift to Digital.

Just so you know I rarely find a sentiment I like. Even today I had to go off to the printer and upload a font and print what I wanted.

I feel your pain because I have needed "I" stamps too. I am happily married for a gazillion years, lol. It's more like twenty. There are times I have needed an "I" sentiment over we, especially for my online friends who have never met my husband. I print out a lot of things too.

I've only been re-married for a year. I was single quite awhile, so I know what you mean! There are times I still need a stamp that says "I" or "my" because it's from
"me" not "we" ;-)
I just looked at the large sentiment set from SU-"Word Play" and it has a stamp that says, "You're in my thoughts, You're in my heart."
So I guess I have one!

This made me smile. I was single until 38, married, then widowed, then single awhile, now remarried.. Had to switch pronouns a few different times in my life. It is easier to just use the words and skip the pronouns, or computer generate them...I did that often.

Another vote here for "me" and "I" rather than "we" and "our"...

I just ordered PTI's Military Hero set and was thrilled to see both included: My Hero, Our Hero; I Miss You, We Miss You, etc. A lot of the sentiments are set up so that the pronouns are separate stamps.
