I'm still struggling with making the choices of personalizing the starter kit. I'm pretty much decided on the stamp sets, and I thought that was the harder decision. Well, I'm having even more trouble narrowing it down to the paper and inkpad choices.
I like the Bold Brights, but am also drawn to the Soft Subtles. Plus there are many colors in the other 2 groups that I like as much.
I know that I am getting Basic Black and Chocolate Chip. After that I'm not sure. I was thinking Certainly Celery or Mellow Moss for my Heartfelt Thanks set (to make the stem for the flower). I also like Perfect Plum and Pale Plum for that set or Almost Amethyst and Bashful Blue.
I've looked at the gallery over and over and have a really long list of possible choices. I'm having a really hard time narrowing it down to just 6 inks and one paper group.
My advice is to remember you can order more inks in your first order, at a 30% discount!
I would go with the colors SU suggested, if you don't already have them, because they know there product, and they know what sells well, and they have designed the kit to make it easy to demo and to sell products. You are going to want what will appeal to the most people- as long as you also enjoy demo-ing it.
I personally love the bold brights as colors, but find myself using the soft subtles CS the most.
I will get in my starter kit the soft subtles papers (whenever it gets here  ) As for the inks I like cert. celery, perfect & pale plum and apricot appeal, at least I think those colors would look great with the Heartfelt thanks set. As my ink cartridge, I am trying to get a empty cartridge, which I want to fill with versamark refill. That way I can use it on more than just one color of paper. (But as of now I don't even know if it's ok to substitute a color cartridge for an empty one. )
I have the inks they recommended, but I hardly ever use them, I also hardly ever use my bold brights paper, and if I do, then only in combination with another color group. They just seem a little bit too bright by themselves. ( But that is just my opinion)
I've been stamping for a year now and I started out with a set of Stampin spots in the earth elements colour group. I like having a variety of colours to choose from. Over the year I bought a few extra colours that I liked, perfect plum and night of navy. I also bought the terrific tags set which included certain celery, brocade blue and real red. I would suggest looking through the catalogue and seeing which card colour combinitions catch your eye and ordering colours that you are drawn to. I agree with Ellie, the bold brights are nice colours but almost too bright. I like the soft subtle group better.
Now I'm trying to decide between:
-Bashful Blue (Is this too light or is there a better blue to go with above choices?)
-Pixie Pink (I know this is bright, but I like it--or some other pink?)
-Or do I need some kind of yellow (apricot appeal or so saffron?)
Considering the above color choices--which paper group? Soft Subtles?

Hi!
I would go with Regal Rose or Pretty in Pink; they look AWESOME with Chocolate Chip.
And I think Apricot Appeal would be beautiful with all of your color choices.
Soft Subtles paper too. It's almost spring, so these colors should get you off to a good start.

You should probably get the card stock to match your inkpads. I would go for the Soft subtles. As for the pink, if you are going to get the subtles, I would get pretty in pink. There are actually some cardsamples with perfect plum, cert. celery and pretty in pink on page 26 of the current catalog. Those colors look really nice together. If you like bashful blue go for it. You can always add apricot or another yellow to your next order.
Make sure to remember, if you sign up during Sell-a-bration, you will get another stamp set up to a value of $ 39.95 for FREE!
I totally agree with getting the cardstock that matches your ink. That is one of the biggest selling factors, the coordination of our inks and papers. It makes a HUGE difference when your ink matches your paper.
As has been mentioned, don't forget that you will have the opportunity to order again, lol.
Ok, it is me again. I think I've narrowed it down to:
I like the pixie pink and the regal rose for a pink, I use bashful blue all the time and I love so saffron... I would think more on what you will use - for me I dont really use the brights I use the SS the most and then a lot from teh other groups
considering the colors you are choosing I would get SS paper./

Okay, I just held all the papers together. I would get Regal Rose. I love Bashful Blue, but with those colors Rose rocks. Also, about So Saffron... I really like the paper but my classic ink is a really unattractive muddy color. I love Apricot especially with your color choices but it is more of an orange than a yellow.
Also, with your ink choices I would get SS paper.
Hope that helps narrow it down.

I love Apricot Appeal myself, but if you get Pretty in Pink you will have all of the colors in the Heartfelt Thanks kit pictured in the front of the catty!
