There are 2 Michaels in Anchorage and I usually go to the one on my side of town. Yesterday I was on the other side of town and decided to stop there just for kicks. I forgot the size difference! Seemed like a better selection. I think that is just kinda the way it is. Maybe you could challenge yourself to use up some of your older stuff to help off set what you bought!
I feel your pain -- I was chanting "I don't need more paper" when I went into Tuesday morning yesterday and found the coolest packs of American Crafts paper -- sparkly and shiny and embossed stuff . I don't NEED more paper -- but I want it (especially if its a great price). I don't worry about scrapbook companies going out of business because I'll have a paper stash that will last me a long, long time!
Don't feel bad, there are a lot of people here who also have this "problem."

I can't help you with this one...I ALWAYS say that I don't need more (insert paper, stamps, ribbon, etc.) and especially with paper- I almost always cave!! LOL
Just last night I was looking around my craft room and wondering how many trees were sacraficed for my paper collection. I had to quickly shake the vision out of my head to avoid guilt.
Now I can replace it with keeping the timber industry solvent. Thanks for helping me free myself from guilt!
I've been on a "no paper" mind set for about 2 years. Thank goodness I have been; I hate to imagine having even more paper than what I've bought in that time. HL 50% off cries out for me to buy, and buy I did.
I love paper,I buy it to use but when it is time to use it I say "it is so pretty" I do not want to cut it up. I have told my self this week make a card like it is your last one, I have been using my prettys this week .

I hear you loud and clear and I didn't need any more paper either, but I just order 5 new pads of Basic Grey and I know I will buy more at Michael's next week...I do not need more paper...I do not need more paper...

I just ran into Tuesday Morning yesterday (next to a shop to get my hubby some new shirts) and I got some of that beautiful shiny paper too. I got a pack of chocolate brown cardstock too, along with a Martha Stewart punch.
I have been checking out Garbrielle's blog every day and drooling over all the pretty paper and embellishments that she uses. The problem is the closest Michaels store or scrapbook store is 1 hour away. check out Such a Pretty Mess and drool
I figure, any dollar spent is one for the economy....
Besides, as my husband always says, money is for spending. You either spend it today, save it to spend later, or hoard. Hoarding is wasting. Saving for another day is wise, spending today is fine too as long as you've made provision for tomorrow. I love that man.
I, too, have been on a huge paper binge the past couple of months--it just seems to be calling to me!! Plus did you know anything you buy on vacation gets taken out of the "travel" fund, not the "stamping" fund?
Me too! I had convinced myself that I didn't need a full pack of EVERY color that SU is about to retire. I was working on making good decisions on which ones that I would stock up on. Then my DH walked into the craft room, looked at all the scallop circle color samples on my desk and asked which card I was choosing colors for. Explained what I was actually doing and you know what he said? "Why in the world would you ever give up a color? Get at least one pack of each and you'll always have them. Or at least for quite a while."
Oh my god, I love that man! :p:p
So, even though I didn't need anymore paper either, I just put in a ridiculously large SU order this morning, with a pack of every retiring color, every DSP with a retiring color in it, and all the reinkers that I hadn't gotten yet! Whoo-hoo!
Then of course, Claire over at Waltzingmouse is having a release party today that includes free shipping. Oh no! I can't spend again on craft stuff for at least a month. Or at least that's what I'll keep trying to tell myself.
I decided to STOP holding on to pretty paper and use it all up! So I started to use ALL of my pretty paper...and then promptly went and bought more. So I learned...it's just a paper thing....gotta have it!

This is brilliant!
And I don't feel so bad now because I was at my LSS yesterday to participate in the National Scrapbook Day activities and worked on an 8 x 8 album that uses the new paper I just bought!

Just think of it as supporting the timber industry... we must keep people employed, right?
Two thumbs up for that post! I should use that line on my hubby the next time he complains about me buying too much craft stuff. "I'm just supporting your industry, Honey." LOL

Destin!!! We've been there a dozen times or so for vacation. How fortunate you are to live so close!
I'm definitely getting better about cutting into my SU designer paper...it is just SO pretty that I used to save it...I still have YEARS of retired paper sitting around! lol!
it is so nice to be among fellow addicts....i think alarms should ring when i walk into a paper aisle anywhere. funny, but no alarms ever peal, so that must mean it is OK to buy more !
