Default How do I...

make a photo or card scan smaller? I tried to attach a card to a post earlier today, but was told the file was too big. But a file the same size can be posted to the gallery... I also had trouble adding the avatar photo b/c the file was too big (Britta helped me out though ). I'd like to be able to do this myself, though. Do I have to modify a setting for the scanner? Or is there a way to make it smaller once it is already saved?
Thanks in advance,
Debbie

If you have a photo/image program like Microsoft Picture It you can resize the image there first.

The easiest way I have found to do it is to use Paint software from Microsoft. It is usually already on your computer.

Just open the scan in paint and then under the image tab click on Stretch/Skew... then in the stretch part I shrink it about 50% by putting 50 in both the horizontal and vertical %'s. Make sure that you enter the same number in each or the picture will be distorted. This sometimes takes a couple of adjustments before I get the size I want. When you are first starting shrink it in small bits to get used to how much it'll need. Maybe start with 80% in each.

The check what size it is, under the image tab click on the attributes and it will tell you the width and height in inches, cm or pixels.

Keep making adjustments until you have the right size. Then under the file tab click save or save as if you want to keep the original size.

I've been having trouble, too. Today I tried to upload a card and it said the format was not correct... Does it need to be pdf or jpg or what?

TIA,
Sherri

Files you upload to the gallery have to be in jpg. format
