I'm visiting San Diego soon and would like to visit any good Rubber Stamp stores in the area...or Scrapbook Stores too. Any good Rubber Stamp shows in the area that I should travel to see?
If you are in north county, don't miss GeeGees Stamp-n-stuff and
Ever After Scrapbooks. East County (Valerie missed this one) has Stamp Diego in Lakeside and Scrapbook Sensations in Alpine. If you are thinking of going to Scrappin' Attack, you're too late -- they close for good this Friday. sniff

I haven't heard anything good about this new store. When it was in Rancho San Diego, before the buy out, it was a great store. It went downhill after that and then moved. And nope, never heard of Scrapbook Sensations. My
fav place is Paper Tales and that's why I listed it first. I *heart* Michelle and Helle!

Im sad to hear that Stamp Diego is not as good as it looks. I used to shop at their store in Seaport Village but that's been gone for a while. Scrapbook Sensations is kinda tiny but their selection is pretty good and they usually keep up with what's new. I never have been to Paper Tales but I will get there next week -- looks great.

The owners, Beverly and Gretchen are so nice. They also manufacture/design their own stamps and own the old Stampourri line of stamps that you can't find anywhwere else. Big plus is the wonderful local bakery just two doors down.
Then there is a really unusual very funky kind of stamp store inside an optical lens store in La Mesa - no website, but here is the info:
Stamp Delights
8324 Parkway Dr
La Mesa, CA 91942
(619) 465-6873
There are thousands of stamps and just "stuff" - tucked into little rooms, cupboards, nooks, crannies and all over the place - a lot of it really vintage - meaning it has been there that long. There are also a resident siamese cat or two. The owner is a sweetie, but a definite pack rat. Nothing neat or modern about this place and not to be in any confused or related to the wonderful Stamping Delights store in Poway. It's just that if it's not the latest thing and I can't find it anywhere else, I can usually find it here. And yes, there are customers sitting there being fitted for glasses as you wander around checking out the stamps.
This one is actually just down the hill from the Stamp Addict.

Reason: forgot to add store address
Good Golly Miss Molly - I have lived in east county forever and I didn't know about the Lemon Grove, La Mesa and Point Loma stores. I must really be slipping. Sounds like time for a field trip.

I was updating my "to do" list from the postings here for when I go home this Christmas and found that Ever After Scrapbooks is moving this weekend and will open again on September 4th at:

I always visited the old store in San Diego when we were in town and always found lots that I "needed". A couple of weeks ago we were there and I made a trip to Lakeside and was really disappointed. Everything seemed old and dated and not much there. I won't spend the time to drive out there again.
If you have transportation you really should go to Stamping Details in Poway. They have a great selection and the people there are really nice. It seems like some area stores have not kept up with the changes that have taken place in stamping in the last few years. Stamping Details seems to have more current stock.

Oh, and I just returned from that funky store, Stamping Delights, in La Mesa and was I in for a treat. Yes there are stamps everywhere but there are also tons of supplies. She even had gamsol which is hard to find at area stamp stores. She does have her stamps organized so you can find what you want a little easier.

Okay, one last thing (lol). I went to the Lemon Grove store today and even though it was during their regular hours the store was closed. Better call before you drive over there.

Tell me when you are going! We should go together! ;)
FYI - Valerie (11Valerie11) is teaching a Scor-Pal class on Saturday, September 13 at Paper Tales. The project looks SO cute! Looks like a must-do class!

Another great thing about this store -- they have a class or two every day! Sometimes it is a demo by a product rep, other times techniques, etc. It is definitely worth the stop.

Gosh - the two owners or at least one of them is always there - they run it themselves. Must be there was an emergency. I hope you try it again. It's one of those nook and cranny stores too. They also have a gallery/warehouse a few doors down. I have limited mobility due now to a heart condition and when I go in, I just sit down and tell them what I am looking for or Gretchen just brings me stuff she thinks I would like. Kind of like having your own personal shopper like Nordies or the high end department stores!

Reason: Oh for spell check for message boards.....................................
I've been wanting to go to Paper Tales since they opened too. Is anyone is interested in doing a local SCS field trip followed by lunch?? It would be really nice to meet some of you.
Scappin Attack is still open...in fact they are offering 40% off the store for the next week. Stamp Addict is having a garage sale on stamps this weekend. Customers are bringing in their items.
My personal favorite store is Stamping Details. They are a second family to my Mom and I. I am moving away from the store and I am off to WA and I have not anything else that rivals their selection. I travel alot and like to check out stamp stores in other states and it always good to come home to Stamping Details.
I will be visiting San Diego in the middle of December for a convention. We are staying at the Marriott Hotel and Marina on Harbour Drive. We will not have a car, but wanted to check which of the stores listed are somewhat close to where we will be? We can take a taxi or the bus or the train.

Thanks for your help.........................Barb
You can get a taxi up Harbour Drive onto Rosecranz then go to the very end of the street where it meets Hwy 8 -- and get to a well-stocked scrapbook store called Scrapbook Your Life. There have some great California/San Diego stuff for you to scrap your trip when you get home. Paper Tales is nearby but someone else will have to give directions.

I've been to Scrappin' Attack and Stamping Details within the last month.
Scrappin' Attack actually expanded a bit and has lots of crops and classes you can sign up for. I got some "A's" cut out from their store cricuit for Peggie's Halloween Banner swap here on SCS. The owner gave me a break on the cutting fee since it was just letters - yippee!!
Stamping Details had so much good stuff! I had DH and DS with me and couldn't stop and check everything out like I wanted to. They hosted a group of military wives who came in to decorate and stuff shoeboxes with goodies to send to their deployed spouses. I stopped in with some donations and managed to take a look around before my men got restless ;)
We'll be going back to this fun place for Memorial Day weekend in 2014 - it's a beautiful place! Welcome to San Diego Scrap Inn
