In my mind I seem to be stuck with the notion that wheels are for making borders. But I just came across this cute card: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
So I looked in the gallery list for wheels and found more cards where a wheel was used to make the background paper. Here is another: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Do you think maybe I should take wheeling lessons?
I use my wheels to make backgrounds all the time! I love to wheel!

Wheels are awesome for lots of things. I have used them for backgrounds, on vellum, wrapping paper, embossed them... etc, etc, etc. Here is a ways to use it challenge thread where I challenge people to use their wheels. Lots of links to great cards here and if you scroll down to the end, there is a technique sheet posted on the wonderful world of wheels with even more ideas. Have fun!
I only have one wheel (Island, and the matching Do The Hula set) and I have yet to use it. No reason why, I just can't really work out how to use it. I'll check out the links that have been posted in this thread for ideas.
I love to wheel too and have collected quite the group of them. It is something your kids can do too and they feel good about whatever they create when they're done. I use them mostly for backgrounds and envelopes, but will sometimes cut out the images indivitually and add them to cards. Wheels are fun.

I use wheels to make backgrounds on the card. Typically, I like the tone-on-tone look for the wheels. It just gives it a little pizzaz. And with a quarter size card, I just use my ink pads. I don't own any cartriges.... that way I can make it whatever color I want!
