OK gals,
My DH insists I buy a silent eyelet setter, why he doesn't love hearing all the banging I do is beyond me! Especially b/c I have to sit and listen to all the noises he makes, LOL!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions on which one I should buy? I'm kind of pulling toward the Making Memories one, only b/c I buy ALOT of their product BUT I would love to hear what you all have and how you like it.
I'm going to buy it later on today so quick responses are SOOO appreciated!

I'm not at home, so I can't tell you the name.
I bought the one in the craft stores that comes in a black zipper case, with really thick green padding that everything is set into. It works okay. You pretty much have to stand up and put your weight into it. My complaint was that when I tried to zip the case, the zipper broke. If you get it, just leave it open. Never zip it!
I bought the MM one a few weeks ago and love it! As the previous poster mentioned, it is not truly silent, but it's so much better than hammering! I love how easy it is to use!

the one lynnewithane is talking about is the ProvoCraft Silent Setter. I recently got it and the few times I have used it it works pretty well. It is truly silent! I don't recommend it with MM eyelets though since you have to use more weight to get those to set which can be a pain. I even had some trouble with the SU gold ones since they are made out of brass. I do like it though especially for a silent setter.
Good luck!
I too have the provo craft slient setter. It is quite as a mouse, but like samwich said it is harder to set some eyelets with it. But it can be done I just stand up and put my body weight into it lol. It is also a cheaper investment then some of the other setters on the market too! Good luck shopping and picking the one you like out!

If there is someplace you can try-before-you-buy I would definitely try that. That type of tool seems to be a very personal decision ;) I've tried many and don't like any, so I've stayed with my hammer (but I don't have to worry about waking my kids -- they are two floors up).
That said... If you need silence, do not get the Click-It, there is a loud click when it works. The MM and ProvoCraft ones rely on your power, so if you have weak wrists, that type of tool may not be the right thing.
I'm so glad that I found this thread...I just bought the Provocraft silent setter at the BF in Redmond (for you washingtonians). They had it marked 50% off (reg 19.99, sale 9.99). I wasn't going to open it until I read what SCS'ers had to say about it....Guess I'll be keepin' it!
I have to bump this thread back up because I just bought the Provocraft Silent Setter and I think it's awesome!!
I still love my MM eyelet tool kit because I use mostly everything in there, but hated hammering the eyelets!
This silent setter is awesome. I watched it in action the other night when we had our Okinawa SCS get-together and I was so impressed.
As the other poster said I have to stand up and put a little weight on it to use some of the MM eyelets, but I still think it's worth it not to hammer like mad woman while the family is watching tv.
I recommend this setter! I paid 15, if you can get it cheaper, go for it!
