Help! How do I get a "multicolored" look to a stamped image?
Hi - I hope that's not a dumb question.....I'm really new to stamping, and am stuck already!!! I saw a card stamped with Calming Garden, where the flower in the pot stamp wasn't stamped in black....each section appeared to be a separate color. How do you do that? Would you stamp in a light color (say Close to Cocoa or Going Gray) and then go over the outline in the color of your choice with watercolor pencils or markers? I hate having flowers with black stems.....seems so harsh. Thanks for your help!!
I would guess they colored directly on teh stamp with the markers. That way the pot can be black, the stem a green and the flower a pretty color. At least that what it sounds like to me HTH
I'm sure it was markers, but thought I'd mention that only markers designed for stamping will actually work on stamps. color on the stamp -- then "huff" (open your mouth and breathe) onto the stamp to remoisten and stamp. However, the stampers' code doesn't permit sharing this secret with nonstampers.

Another evil device to get me to purchase more stuff! Only kidding - I finally broke down and bought my first SU markers (rich regals) and they are the BOMB! Must have all color families now!!!!! evil plot...

Someone upthread said only markers made for stamping would work- but I've used Crayola markers without a problem. Now I use Marvy markers that I got a pack of 12 for $5. I can't afford SU yet.
markers, watercolor crayons and of course spectrum pads but with the spectrum pad the color will be in certain portions only, not exactly where you always want it to be.the markers and crayons you put on where you want it to go.I guess if you use the spots stamp pads you can get it in most places depending on the image of the stamp.

Thank you all so much - and thanks for the words of welcome! I had tried to use sharpies once, but didn't work well. Now I know why!!! Time to call my demonstrator to order the markers!!
I have the ink spots but did not think of the markers coming in sets. Oh no! That sounds like something I need to buy!

P.S. Someone is going to show up on Dr. Phil one day soon. Like the lady hiding her purchases of clothes and shoes except this time it will be stamping supplies!
