Default Help--Have you used StazOn on fabric??

I need to stamp on a tablecloth and all I've got is white craft and all the Stazon colors. Has anyone ever used StazOn successfully on fabric?

Do you have the chalk inks? I've heard they're good on fabrics.
I've not personally tried it, but I've been told that Staz-on and fabric are a bad combination. I know the craft pads work, but it sounds like you don't want white.

Sorry!

StazOn will wash out. Marvy inks work well but they have to be heat set or they will come out in the wash. It seems to me that the Chalk inks will not work. Versa Magic which is similar to the Chalks can be used on fabric.

I did several t-shirts for my kids a few weeks ago, with Stazon. It's held up for several washings. Most of the colors held up well except for Red. After the 4th washing, some of the images are a lot fainter.

I would recommend using Acrylic paint if you want the tablecloth to be washable and used a lot.

I looked in the gallery and this t-shirt (the grey one) uses chalk ink. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers I know people have stamped onesies with it before, but I don't remember if anyone ever said how they do with fading.

Do you have any paints? They might work in a pinch.

I do have some acrylic paints....do I just let them dry or do I have to heat set them too?

I have several different brands; some say to heat set, some don't. I figure, once the paint is dry, it can't hurt! I zap it with the iron, or for big jobs, stick the fabric in a hot dryer for 15 or 20 minutes.

Some acrylics call for mixing in a fabric medium, which I never do. If you can experiment, play with the paints on a t-shirt or something; then dry, heat set, and launder again to check. Remember to wash your tablecloth or any fabric first before stamping; don't use liquid fabric softener then. (I will say I just stamped some canvas tote bags that had a label that said washing first was not necessary, so I didn't. Turned out ok.)

Let us know what you do and how it turns out! I might be doing a tablecloth, curtain, and floor cloth in a few days & would appreciate your input!
