Default Help! Embossing on Transparency Paper!

This is my first time using transparency paper for a project & I am not having any success at all! I used Sharpie markers to fill in the black StazOn stamped image & then a blender pen to add the ink. The ink is an "Archival Pigment Ink Pad" I dab this onto the image but after a few seconds it looks like the ink starts to separate/bubble on the transparency paper. If I work quickly I can fill the image & then sprinkle it with clear SU embossing powder. When I emboss it (gun is about 8" away & constantly moving) the transparency immediately starts to crinkle up & get stiff. The embossing powder doesn't turn shiny at all. I am thinking I am using the wrong type of transparency paper, this stuff "write on transparencies" It says on the box, "made specifically for use with transparency markers" Do you think this is why or can is it something else? HELP, I am going crazy with this, I've already wasted 4 hours on this project!

Lori, you do need to use a different type for embossing. Look for the kind that's meant for laser printers. Since laser printing requires heat, this type will stand up to the heat of embossing.

As for "archival" ink, that just refers to its resistance to fading. It is not the same thing as "permanent" or "solvent" ink, such as Sharpies have. If you think about it, pens/inks meant for use with transparencies are intended to be non-permanent, so you can wipe them off easily. You want something more permanent than that.

Staz-On for the stamped image, Sharpies to color in; that should do the trick! You could also try regular acrylic paint, or paint with Pearl Ex added for a pretty sheen. Dye inks, though, will not work.

Make sure and post your creations! We love to ooh and aahh, lol.

Thank you so much for the reply. I took back the write on transparencies & got the laser ones today. Big difference in price! I took back 60 & got 15 of the lasers for the same price. But at least they work & the embossing worked great. Thanks again! I'll be sure to figure out how to post pics when I am finished...
