Default Help a DH!

Anyone here have any unique ideas for something I can make my wife for Christmas?? My wife (crazyladyjay) is an SU! Demo and an SCS addict so I have all the tools to make stuff, just looking for some good ideas.

She has promised me she won't read any replies to this thread so it can be a surprise. So, if you have any good ideas let me know.

THANKS!

WARNING - WARNING!! WE'VE BEEN INFILTRATED!! A DH IS ONLINE! WARNING - WARNING!! sorry couldn't help myself - we often joke around about if our DH's ever got on here we'd be in trouble.

 I don't even have any gift suggestions. Just a smart-alecky attitude - but hey, people expect that from me.

Can you build things? Maybe a paper storage unit, ink pad storage, heat gun holder, something like that?

If you want to stamp something for her, it might be cute to stamp her a pajama top, just get a comfy white top and stamp on it with Stampin' Up! Craft Pads, then set with the heat gun. Or if you have kids, this would be something fun they could do for mom.

Then get comfy sweat pants to go with it!

I think I like this idea for myself!!

hahahahahahaha!!!

Default how about...

How about a small album titled something to the effect of:

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT MY WIFE:

Each page could include a different reason and a note from you. You could use alphabet stamps to stamp the titles and handwriting or the computer for journaling. I would love to get something like that.

OR, you could use a paint can and fill it with meaningful things that remind you of her. I'm sure you could incorporate stamps for the inside too! Example: stamp the elephant from "have a heart" and attach a note saying how you love that she never forgets _______....

I'm a tad on the sentimental side, BUT I would love to receive a gift along those lines.

HTH (hope that helps) LOL

Diamonds are always a safe gift!

I hate to break it to you but you sound like you have already given her the perfect gift. You have shown forethought and caring that most of our hubby's lack. Not to mention ......you get crafty! I think I would keel over and be speechless......sitting still and quiet is not an everyday thing for me!

Do you have children? You could get her friends or children to each make her a scrapbook page that represents what they feel for her and appreciate about her. You could get one friend to take her out to dinner while the other ladies come over.

There is an envelope mini book in Lunar Lana’s gallery that I made………you could make one of those and fill the pockets with “DATES?!!! maybe gift a certificate for 2 to a restaurant and a theatre show, then a few movie tickets, maybe a facial certificate! Check out her gallery. They are pretty easy!

I totally agree with Lisa!! I have to say that when I first read your request, the first thing that came to my mind was the envelope books. Here's a link to one of the pictures in case you have trouble finding them:

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Just the fact that you are taking an interest and wanting to do something for her would be enough for me, but I think if you did a booklet and then included gift certificates, etc., like Lisa mentioned it would be greatly appreciated!

I like the idea of the nightshirt... but I think you should ink up the kids' hands and feet and use them as "stamps" -- guaranteed to make her cry!

And aren't you just too damn cute! I think we'll adopt you!

I like the album dedicated to her that texasjodylynn suggested. That is very sweet that you want to do something special for her. I am sure she will love anything that you make her.

Can't you just see the matching T-shirts for this couple? Or matching His and Hers towels? They would have their SCS member # on them!!!!! How cute is that? Besides Tracy and Daven I think these guys are our first SCS couple! Oh, crazyladyjay is one lucky lady!

Sorry, I have no ideas right now - I'm still in awe that you ventured here and signed on. Congratualtions!

Oh, I have one - how about a gift certificate to SU! Especially if she is a demonstrator! Then, stamp her a card and you are set!

My posts keep getting eaten up when I submit, arghhh....
What a dear you are to want to do something so personal for your wife. My DH has made cards on a few ocassions and I always love it b/c I can see the effort it takes for him to do something so foreign!!
I love the idea of a scrapbook made by you and your children. Everyone could do their own page of why she is special. It would be such a great reflection of individual personalities.
The envelope book with coupons for various things would be the kind of gift that keeps giving. Again each person could submit their own ideas like cleaning their rooms, cooking a meal, going on fun family outing like bowling or miniature golf, ect. That is an idea to file away for Mothers day too.
If you are crafty with building then a ink pad holder or similar for her supplies would be appreciated. Does she have a good work space? What could you do to make it better for her? I've asked my husband for a 6' piece of countertop to make a workstation in our basement.
How wonderful to have a husband that supports your hobby!! I am sure she will love whatever you do, b/c for most women it is the thought and effort that means the most!!

I agree with making something for her workspace. Another idea is something my Brother-In-Law did last year. He made his wife 2 planter boxes for outside, painted them white, then had each of their kids (they have 2) personalize them with handprints, painting on them, wrote their names on them. They were SO adorable. I know that is something I would have loved for my hubby to do for me!

I do think if you are handy with tools, she would LOVE something for her workspace though. Good luck & let us all know what you decide to do.

How awesome of you to want to do something so personal. My Dh would get me a cd player for my car, or a car alarm, or something off the wall. LOL

If you are looking to make something for her using POWER TOOLS, hahahaha, I'd definitely suggest an ink pad holder or a ribbon rack or something like that. Make sure you grab some of her ink pads (the SU ones!) to make sure they'll fit properly and won't fall out. Make it to hang on the wall, off of her work table, OR to sit on the table and spin around for easy access to all her inks. For a ribbon rack, you could make dowels to hang the ribbon spools from.

If you want to make a STAMPED gift, I like the idea of something sentimental -- I *love* the idea of a stamped pajama set. I would SWOON if my husband did something stamped with our daughter's handprints. (A hint: When buying the pajamas for stamping, make sure to buy something SHE'D like to wear -- maybe not so much something YOU would like to see her wear, hahaha!) Or you could do the other suggestions -- I love the idea of the "gift certificates" for dates out with you, dates out with her friends, or a massage at a local spa, etc.

You're a very thoughtful DH! PLEASE let us know what you decide to make!!!!!!!

They are just envelopes thats flaps are inside each other! super easy. you just lick the outside ones. You put whatever you want inside them. the SU ones work best because the stamping quality and the flaps are not pointy.

Ok so you asked for suggestions, now you have to choose from all these great ideas! I like the envelope book Idea because I would love to have some great dates all planned out to look forward to. My DH Adam will be gone for three months to Officer Training School so I hope he doesn't get me planned dates for Christmas this year! LOL
But I think that the envelope Book is so great because it combines you making her something as well as her getting time with you all alone!!!
But I also like the diamond ring in a handstamped box Idea too! Way to go RT

Wow! What a sweetie you are! I would agree with a couple of the others...an envelope book with coupons for dates would be just great. Just remember...if you have children...you have to plan for the babysitter too, not just the date. Good luck and please let us know what you decide!

Default Thanks!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I am going to have to think them over a bit and decide which one(s) I can do without her finding out what I'm making.

As for the huge diamond in a stamped box, this idea is great and if I could do that right now, I surely would. With 1 son born in January and another due THIS DECEMBER, the diamond idea might have to wait a little while.

I like the idea of the supply organizers for the stamp pads and ribbons, I may give those a shot.

Another idea I had of my own that I could use some input on... I am thinking of making a shadow box with some things to mark our first son Caden's first year. Any ideas on what I could/should put inside??

A shadow box is such a sweet idea. Some thoughts . . . birth announcement, newborn blanket, favorite newborn outfit . . .

I saw an idea of a baby shadowbox in a magazine recently, and it included an item I *never* would have thought to include. A newborn-size diaper!!! (A clean one, of course, hahaha!)

I was so touched by this idea that I'm thinking I'll make a shadowbox of our adoption trip to China and include a size 2 diaper (that was the size she was wearing when we got her -- after a few days of HUGE meals, though, she shot up to a size 3!). I think she'll love to see one day that her teeny little butt was that size!

JaysDH - if you do a search on storage, you'll find some discussions that have some links to websites that sell ink pad storage racks, ribbon racks, etc. and your could look at some of those for ideas of what will work in her stampin' space.

Is this guy for real?? OMGosh! That is too freakin adorable!! I think we should adopt him ladies!! Jay is one lucky lady! Seriously jaysDH, you are waaaaaaaaay ahead of the game! Most guys wait until like 2 days before Xmas before they start shopping. It's not even Thanksgiving yet! You rock!!
The shadow box idea sounds excellent. I'm sure your wife would love that! If you are willing to put this much thought into her present, I don't think you will have a problem wowing her. Now all of us need to show his post to our significant others so that he can be an example to them RIGHT?!?! LOL

My DH is hearing about this when he gets home in the morning. I should email it to him now so he can read it at work. How sweet is he for wanting to make something? She will love anything you make for her! Good luck, I will be waiting to see what you make.
