I need help. I want to stamp, but my stamping table is too much of a mess. I only have a 6x6 area to work in. Could someone please come clean my table for me.

Just pile it on your printer-shouldn't need that until Tuesday
Seriously I went to GS camp this weekend with 7 boxes of supplies and after stamping for 3 hrs my stamping space was down to a 6 X 6 area of a 6 ft counter. The boxes were on the desk behind me and under the counter. It happens.
I hoard the boxes my orders come in and when my table needs to be cleared I gently place stuff in the boxes. I don't do it in any organized way (if I was organized the process would not be necessary, kwim) and put them under my DH's pool table. They are out of the way and if the pool table was not there I'd have room for another (longer, wider) table so using that space makes feel a teeny tiny bit better. And I cannot use the pool table --- it's too new to DH (who really is dear) and the best piece of furniture we own!
On the rare occasions that the table is (almost) clear, I have fun "unpacking" a box or two and using stuff I may not have seen in weeks (or longer!).
Oh, I also have 6 chairs and can rarely sit to stamp without moving something! But aren't we lucky to have so much stuff to play with!

LOL! I feel the same way. I just had a camp yesterday for WCMD and my stamp table is a total mess now! Crap everywhere! Good thing I have vacation this week or it would be messy til next weekend.....
OMG! TOO FUNNY! All my craft stuff is in an in-law apt. in my house. (My mom used to live with me until she couldn't take it any more!) For about 2 mos you could not SEE the floor in the living room and I had the pile thing going on with the table. Today my BFF Colleen who is super organized said "I can't believe you can see the floor, but you didn't touch the table!" I had to inform her I already worked on the table for at least an hour! Hey didn't you ever hear this one "Dull women have clean houses!" Have a great week fellow horders!

I know the feeling. I have been so overwhelmed in my apt -- so much cleaning/organizing to be done in general. I need to purge and donate clothing/shoes/etc. That is a big project I need to accomplish.
Today I got so frustrated because I realized that this whole crafting thing is just me buying more stuff that needs to be organized/cleaned!!
Thanks for the tips, Ladies. I've now got a 12x12 space and I'm good to go!! I'll have to keep that "pile stuff on the chair and stand to stamp" in mind for emergencies!! Have you ever had an avalanche?? That's realllly not good, trust me!!

I want in on this action. I don't have a space bigger than 12 x 12 when my table is cleaned up. I am stacked almost to the ceiling and you can hardly see the floor. My dh says that OSHA would not like my room. I told him to stay out. If you can't maneuver in my creativity don't come around. Besides who wants to clean when it doesn't really take up much space to stamp.

My desk is made out of two file-cabinets and a formica counter-top. So, whenever my desk gets too full, I can just pull one of the drawers open and scrape everything into it and deal with it later.

There are several ways you can quickly clean off the table:
First, just start pushing things away from you. The items at the ends of the table will start to fall to the floor. That is OK because if they are at the ends of the table, it means that you aren't using them as much. Keep doing this until you have enough space to work.
Second, and this one is actually my favorite, put your cat (or borrow a cat) on the table and tell her not to knock anything off of the table. The cat (and yes they will all do this) will start to knock things off of the table just to see them fall to the floor. This takes a while to do and for my cat, I have to actually be sitting at the table, telling her to stop knocking things off (and maybe picking up an item or two so she knows that she really isn't supposed to do this) to keep her going. But this can go on for a very very long time.
And lastly, get a new table. When my one table gets messy, I go to the kitchen table. Now both are piled so I will have to pull the card table out of the car (never put it away so that's where it is now) so I can have a clean surface.
Actually, since there's four drawers, it can take a little bit of time to fill them all up. So I generally manage to find time to clean them out before this happens.

ROFL you guys are funny!!! What did I do when my area was too small/messy? I moved EVERYTHING to a bigger room....with a door, so I can close it when I don't want DH to think I'm a pig...ROFL

I wouldnt have to give MY cat any directions she knows exactly what to do! One day I found my new digital camera on the floor! Luckily it was not damaged. So if anyone wants to borrow a cat to clean your stamp table- mine is out for rent. LOL!
