Has anyone ever used paint chips/sample cards on anything?
I was at the hardware store today just looking around and happened to be in the paint section and decided that paint chips/sample cards must have a use somewhere in my stamping/scrapbooking but now that I have them home, I don't have any idea how I am going to use them! Has anyone ever used these and if so, how?
Any ideas/input will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks guys!
I totally lifted some of the ideas from the gallery. I'll actually post my own as soon as I come up with an original. For now, I'm just copying what I have seen here. I absolutely love the effect! They look even better in person too. Some of the lighter colors don't seem to photograph very well.

I have only done one thing with paint chip samples.
I used it as a background and placed a paper folded shirt off set on it for a father's day card. The paint chip was attached along side the left (folded edge) of the card. It was a make it take it project at a scrapbook convention I went to last year.
I think that the sugar and spice example ( the rectangle from the paint prints) on the front of the sellabration catty is supposed to look like a paint chips. You could do some wonderful things with that.
They are the paint sample papers you get at the store when picking a paint color. The swatch of paint color you take home to see if it'll match with the furniture. You know!!!!! ?????
I did a paint chip card. I did find that you need to use stazon and color with sharpies, or it smears. Enjoy! cindyvg's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers It is the copper snowman one.
i LOVE them!!! you should see the "collection" of paint chips i have!!! my DD is embarrassed to go into lowes or home depot or walmart with me because i have to add to my collection every time!!!!!! they really make for quick backgrounds for your designs. i'm thinking of doing a whole stamp camp just using paint chips!

I have found that the paint chips make great bookmarks. I use a variety of stamps - mostly non-SU (sorry!), throwing in words and quotes, and Brilliance Black ink, which I heat set. I am in the middle of a truly mad love affair with Brilliance - it lays down so beautifully. I mount it (the paint chip - get your mind out of the gutter) on top of a piece of (SU) black CS and then put a few eyelets at the top. It's fun cuz I can do themes for specific people - great for chick's weekend gifts (to go with the drink markers!)
As for the Brilliance ink, I'm sure you could use SU black craft ink, and heat set it (so it doesn't smear), but I don't want to cheat on the Brilliance. It's been so good to me.
Sorry if I offended anyone with my ink comments  . . . but I love that ink!
Ooh, more tips, please! I have picked up a bunch. So far all I've done is stamp on one, in black classic ink - a Classic Captions (remember that one?) on top of a blue marbled large size paint chip. You can barely see it. Or so I thought.
DH saw it on the table once and said it was neat and I said yes but it was too light, and he just looked at me, he hadn't realized I had stamped it. LOL
Anyway, I pick them up every time I'm out to Home Depot or wherever. And thanks for the links for samples!!!

Can't wait to see some new examples! I think I might try to come up with something different, too!
