I had bought a pack of Glossy White to use for making birth announcements, but didn't end up using it. I tried today to use it for making a card, but it got all smeary. Now I have a whole pack of it and don't know what to use it for. What do you all use it for?
Glossy paper is awesome when you brayer with dye ink pads. It leaves a great finish for backgrounds. Also it works well when you emboss then brayer color over it. Dye ink is the trick. Craft inks won't dry very quickly. We use glossy paper quite often, it just depends on the project. Have you ever heard of Stampscapes? Go to their website. This is another awesome technique to use glossy paper. Many SU sets would work well this this technique, too. Good luck with your paper.

At my upline's house we used it on a card front as well as for the whole card. We used SU's classic ink pads. We stamped our images with basic black and let it dry for a few minutes. Then we sponged on color where we wanted. We let this set again for a few minutes and then rubbed over it with a napkin or paper towel to pick up the excess color.
The spectrum pads look awesome brayered over the top of the glossy white. You can also use the glossy white for a shaving cream background. I believe that there is a tutorial for that.
I was just using my glossy paper last night and bewailing the fact that I don't have more. Shasande was right. It makes way cool backgrounds with the brayer and any Kaleidacolor pad or SU's versions of same. I did discover that when I forgot to do the moon in versamark first and then stamped the moon with white Colorbox on the brayered background, it didn't dry fast enough for me to finish anything. I did one 1/4 card with US white CS. Not near as cool as the glossy. Trick with brayer is to get it well inked and just roll the heck out of it till all the ink is smoothed on well. Have fun!
I love glossy paper. Infact that was the 1st paper pack I bought from SU (not US white) & it is well worth the money spent. I use it for tapestry background using dye based inks. The colors really pop out and are so saturated. Here is a card from my gallery Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
When I use craft/pigment inks, I go over the brayered ink with a heat gun to speed up the drying. Or I emboss the image. I use the glossy paper quite often.
There are techiques like wax paper resist, crayon resist that use glossy paper. I haven't tried any of the techniques yet though.
Color Box chalk inks work very well with the glossy paper. They dry almost immediately and you can stamp a word stamp over the image. Lately, I have been using the solid Penny Black brushstroke flowers on glossy, then stamping a saying in black Memories Dye Ink. Memories has the most vivid black dye base ink. Other inks don't seem to cover the chalk as well.
One of the really nice things about glossy is that it picks up every little detail of the image. Lots of times if you can't seem to get a complete image stamped, trying it on glossy will make all the difference in the world. I LOVE Stampin' Up's glossy. I've tried lots and LOTS of different kinds and always come back to SU, lol!
I LOVE SU's glossy paper! My dd & I have been making cards all day using it. Go to the tutorials & try the crayon resist. That is the coolest method & looks store bought. Even my 4 yr old granddaughter made an awesome card with doing crayon resist. Don't give up. Do some searches & see what you find. You will not be sorry!
