Default Glitter 101 class

I have a Hostess that wants to have a Glitter class. She love the way it looks. But I have no clue what to teach her. Do any of you have tip, techniques, and demo ideas? Also what do you use to apply Glitter?

I enjoy stamping an image with a bright color, running it upside down through the xyron then peeling off the adhesive from the xyron and adding the glitter. It sticks so well.

I would definitely demo something with two way glue pen and glitter.

Then you could demo a glitter window and maybe even a glitter puzzle. Glitter rocks!!!!!!! Or should I say Glitter sparkles.

Default Glitter with clear embossing powder

You can use heat and stick for applying glitter. It’s a powder that gets sticky with heat.

I’ve also applied it this way but it has to be a small area. This is my own technique. When I first starting stamping I bought fine glitter thinking it was embossing powder and was determined to find a way to use it. It was displayed with the embossing powder, so what was a newbie suppose to think!
----
Stamp design with colored ink.
Before picking up the stamp use a positioner to align stamp.
Clean stamp.
Stamp over the same design using Versa Mark.
Cover with transparent embossing powder
Have the glitter open and ready ‘to work fast!’
While embossing powder is hot (and after your heat tool if off) pour the fine glitter over to completely cover design.
Pour off glitter and brush off design with a tooth brush to get excess glitter off.
If you missed a spot with glitter just reheat that area and cover with glitter again.

When using a shadow stamp over a design the only change would be to align the stamp then place positioner to mark your spot. Then stamp with Versa Mark and continue steps.
For this method it looks nice without the glitter just to give a defined raised area to the art work. Rub on color can be used to enhance the edges if preferred.

I will write a tutorial for it soon. But it's easy. The only thing is....you need to have a Xyron sticker maker machine.

Run your cardstock through the xyron machine. Next use our hobby blade and cut only through the sticker paper into pieces. Cut either wavy or straight pieces. Next peel of one piece at a time and add different colored glitter to it.

Go to the gallery and put glitter puzzle in the search engine. You should find several there. If you see some with circular patterns, they are probably cut with the coluzzle. At least that's what I do.

Hugs and smiles.

Check out this website

I've taken several classes from Christine including her glitter class. She's an awesome teacher. In fact her basic stamping class is what really got me started into stamping about 9 or 10 years ago. She teaches classes all over SoCal and she has published several books.

I really like the look of glitter applied to white craft ink - especially snow scenes.

My mom just did a workshop for me and my friends today... I LOVE all things glitter and she used something I haven't seen before. I'll try to put the link below.

She used the SU Liquid Glue to fill in puffs of the poodle from Paris In the Spring, then covered it with Dazzling Diamonds. I've always used the DD with Heat & Stick powder, or Two Way, or Xyron, or whatever, but the Liquid Glue is very three-dimensional glue, kinda chunky almost, so it gives the glitter a very 3-D look as opposed to a flat look. I thought it was pretty nifty !

I am in the process of uploading 2 cards to my gallery that used glitter. My only problem with SU is their glitter selection is so limited. My LSS has the most fantabulous selection of glitter so they get my glitter $$. (I am not a demo.)

Anyway the first technique is Stained Glass technique. The Peddlers Pack makes some great background stamps that are perfect for this technique.

Stamp image on acetate with black Stazon. Apply dries clear glue (I prefer Art Institute Designer Dries Clear Adhesive) to back of acetate to all the areas you want your darkest glitter color. Sprinkle glitter over glue and shake off excess. Work one color at a time from darkest glitter color to lightest. When done allow to dry completely. Mount with the smooth side of the acetate up on your favorite cardstock.

The second one seems to be MIA but used the christmas lights from Border Builders and I highlighted the bulbs with glitter. Will try to get it to upload again.

Good luck with your workshop. Everyone will leave with sparkling new ideas

Crystal Effects is fun for adhearing glitter & the results are similar to Liquid Glue.

I also LOVE the Hologram Highlights Embossing Powder. It is clear ep with a "holographic" glitter in it. It has a silver tint to it, but also picks up red, green & blue. It is pretty stamped in versamark, but I also like to stamp with craft ink, then apply the ep directly to that & heat. Basic Black craft is one of my favorites with it. This technique makes glitter snowflakes so easy. Just choose your color of blue craft ink, sprinkle w/ep, heat & voila'! There is also Irridescent Ice EP, which is clear with Dazzling Diamonds, but I like the Hologram Highlights better.
