I'm looking for gift ideas for my son's teachers. I'm also looking for an expensive, easy gift idea I can make for all of the teachers (about 60) from the PTO. Thanks for any help!
Altered clipboard are kinda cute! I am a teacher myself and know how much I use my clipboard! Use the school colors when choosing the paper and the ribbons.

I recently made some and found they were very fun to do. It's such a clever little idea and what's even better is that you can fill it with chocolate! I filled mine with about 13 or 14 Hershey's kisses. The thing is that you'd have to collect those pop top cans or ask as many other parents who may have them if you can have theirs. They have to open it with a safety can-opener though. Walmart sells it and so does Pampered Chef.
HTH!

Well, I gave it further thought and I think that the pop top cans may be more than what you're willing to pay, especially for 60 teachers.
My next idea is bookmarks. I think you could find a nice poem, print it out on the computer and then cut them out and stamp over them. I've made many bookmarks and I got about 6 per sheet of 8x11 carstock. You want the image piece to be about 2 inches, then the matting to be a big bigger. Check out my gallery for ideas. Hope that helps!;)

Stupid question maybe but when is Teacher Appreciation week? My DD just started kindergarten this past fall so I am new to this. I am still trying to figure out what to get them for the end of the year, goodness now I am freaking about this too!!!
hmmmm...
would you guys explane this for me
we do not have this in germany... what do i have to do?
my son just started speech school... twice a week. he has delays in developing speech since he got confused with english and ?
do i need to make his teachers something too?
when is exactly this week?
Teacher's Appreciation is the first week in May. Schools and PTA's encourage parents, students and anyone who has a teacher in their life to show them just how much they are appreciated. It can simply be a card saying thank you, to small gifts to combined gifts from parent groups. This year the parent group at my son's school painted the staff room. In the past we've given them a new refrigerater. We try to do something special each day of the week. Personally I like to make a card for my son's teacher. If I have time I'll make a gift. If not, I'll buy a gift certificate for coffee or dinner or something.

I think note cards with matching envies and a cute decorated holder is a great idea. Add a matching pen and I think any teacher would love it. My DS teacher is always sending little thank you notes etc home and she loved having matching ones made especially for her.
Our PTA really has their own agenda, sometimes we get info on stuff and sometimes we don't (SIGH -- but that is a COMPLETELY different vent, LOL). I wish they had given us a heads up on this as I would of course like to send in a gift with my DD for her teachers. Thank you, maybe we will get a hand out next Monday since that will be the first day of May when we get our newsletters for the month!!
FYI, our PTO president told me it's May 7-13. That gives us an extra week to prepare!
You're right! I just double-checked some websites and that is teacher appreciation week, with Tuesday the 9th being National Teacher Day. I better check with my PTA and see where I got the bad date!

I just checked with my PTA and they have everything planned for the first week of May! I think they're going to change it although I'm sure the teachers will appreciate everything regardless of which week.

Last spring our PTA made a salad and baked potato bar lunch for us. All members of the PTA signed up to bring dishes and we had the BEST lunch ever! It was GREAT to know that morning the I didn't have to make my lunch and would still have something YUMMY! It was GREATLY appreciated.
The other thing our school is doing next week is to have a massage therapist in the teacher's lounge for one day. We are then treated to a chair massage on our planning time. THIS IS MY FAVORITE (but might be kinda expensive:confused: !!!)

I think you are all wonderful for wanting to honor teachers, especially with handmade gifts! They work so hard! You all have great ideas, too!!! I was actually thinking of making something for each of the teachers I work with!
According to my calendar, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7 - 13, with National Teacher's Day being May 9th, as mentioned above. And, here is a shameless plug: Don't forget the School Nurse and other Nurses in your life during National Nurses Week May 6 - 12, and Nurses Day May 6th! (Yes, I'm a nurse, and I happen to work both at the hospital and at a school!!!)

1) Wrapped 'Amazing' bars (with a tag that says "Thanks for being an AMAZING teacher")
2) Bag toppers with candy (mints - You're worth a mint lifesavers - thanks for being a lifesaver to our kids)
3) Post-it note holders as shown here on SCS with RSVP pens...pretty quick to put together and are about $2.00 in basic costs (clear frame .96 at walmart and RSVP pens .96 for a 2 pack at walmart, plus the post its)
NON STAMPING/CRAFTING
4) A bagel and juice (or donuts) breakfast laid out in the teacher's lounge
5) Catered or parent supplied lunch
6) Chair massages
7) Flowers and/or balloons delivered by the PTO (could attach the candy if you do both)
Our PTA is doing food and something else each day of the week. Personally I'm going to make my son's teacher some monogram note cards and something to hold them in. I also saw a pyramid style container in the gallery that look easy and cute to make up for the rest of the school.

I work at my daughter's preschool, and this week is our Teacher Appreciation Week. We have scheduled:
Monday - gift from the principal (aprons)
Tuesday - gift from the principal (keychains)
Wednesday - breakfast (cooked by me!) and gift from principal (jamba juice gift cards -- I think she got them donated by jamba juice)
Thursday - lunch takeout from Chevy's (from the principal)
Friday - lunch cooked by another one of the parents, and gift from the principal (messenger bags)
Also during the week, the parents each usually bring in a personal gift for the teachers too. I am making the post-it note frame personalized for each teacher (22 of them) -- although my daughter has one main teacher, she has gone there for 4 years, grown up there, and is sorta a school icon, lol, and I want to thank EVERYONE for treating her like one of the family. I originally planned to do the frames only, but I couldn't get out of cooking breakfast for them this year (last year I made lunch and they loved it).
Anyway, I don't know if these are any better ideas for you... we also have a staff book where the staff answered questions on their favorite things -- a way to clue in the parents to what they *really* would like to receive.
