I think it might be Route 13, known as Buford Highway and Atlanta Highway -- but we need confirmation from a real peach eating Georgian!
Thanks, Joan. I finally found it's a SR, not US, and what # it is, but, now darned if I can find it on a map to actually SEE where it runs. I discovered it runs between Atlanta and Gainesville, but I can't FIND it anywhere on the atlas map. :?

I found out it's SR 13, and that it was the original path of Interstate 85.
The 50 mi. section, from Buford all the way into Gainesville, is evidently what is referred to as the "Atlanta" Hwy. It's only a 50 mi. stretch. It supposedly runs parallel to SR 365, but I can't even find SR 365 on darn Atlas map. . .

The Atlanta Highway..is actually 316....but it goes from Atlanta to Athens not to Gainesville. Even though my husband disagrees with me and says there are several Atlants Hwy's.... I've only called 316 The Atlanta Hwy.....It was in the song...Love Shack!!!!haha

Oh, I just had a stupid card idea I wanted to do. :rolleyes: For this month's DD Gallery. It'd be a "tardy" entry, but, since the gallery's wonky right now anyway, I figured I'd go for it. Who knew it would be so difficult to locate the "Atlanta" Hwy. on an Atlas Map?

Oh OK.....thought you might be coming our way!! Shucks!!! I did see that State Route 13 is also US Route 19 and State Route 9.....if ya think this is confusing....you should see all our Peachtree Streets and Roads!!!!!
My advice is never try to find anything on a map for Georgia, specifically Atlanta. This is the most backward state when it comes to road names. There seem to be a bunch of Atlanta Highways, Roswell Road, Peachtree's of any type - road, parkway, etc. And then you get the people who call a road by the state route name like 141, or 120. And then there those of us who call it by its name, like State Bridge Road, or Alpharetta Highway (which is also called Roswell Rd.) And my personal favorite is GA 400, which I live close to, but on every atlas and map it is listed as GA 19! It is a miracle any of us can find our way around.
