Is anyone besides me a little bit annoyed by people who post items in the gallery and then don't give you even the barest minimum of information regarding the card, i.e. what colors they used, sets, accessories, they just put "see my blog"? Umm... no, I don't want to check out your blog; I want to cruise the SCS gallery. I can see if you'd like to post directions or comments about how you came up with the idea in your blog, but could you give us the basic stats, please?
I speak the truth not so much as I would, but as much as I dare, .......and I dare a little more as I grow older. -Michel de Montaigne, essayist (1533-1592)
I don't have a watermark yet and I usually skip past those that don't have the info. I'm new to stamping and really need to see the ones that have info so I can learn. The one's without do me little good except to look at pretty pictures.
I'm also annoyed with a message to go to 'my blog' for further information - I want to look at cards not go on a scavenger hunt. I live in a rural area where the only affordable internet service is dial up, needless to say it is very very slow, so when someone says 'see details on my blog' I don't even bother, too bad actually some are great cards it's just too much aggravation.
I know there is a sticky about this but isn't there something more the monitors can do?
I try to put info about the card that I post - but I cannot for the life of me figure out the watermark. I've done searches, looked at the threads, watched the tutorial etc. Needless to say....still no watermark!:(
I know what you mean about the info but I don't think it is wrong for anyone to have a link to their blog. I personally want to check out the blogs of those who have great cards in the gallery.
Also, I don't have a watermark on my cards right now and I don't think that is required. I'm sure I will change my mind once I am published though.
Many gallery uploaders do not visit the forums, and are unaware that uploading without basic info, and leaving only a "Visit my blog directive" is poor netiquette. :(
With hundreds of uploads daily, and over 125,000 users, and over half a million images in the gallery, it is an overwhelming task for our staff of gallery moderators to try to keep up with.
What I'm suggesting is, you might try leaving a comment to the friendly tune of:
"Would love to know at least some basic info about your piece, and would like to encourage you to visit this thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers Thanks for supporting our SCS community!"
This might help us spread the word and make more folks aware!

I am sorry, i have been guilty of that, partly coz my computer is wonky and shuts me down really fast so I have to upload as quickly as I can. This should stop once I get my new computer installed! But I do get annoyed when it says go to my blog however I can uunderstand that perhaps the bloggers do not want to post all the information twice... JMHO!

Watermarks are not required...... that was just my 2 cents thrown in ;)

Perhaps something could be said on the home page about this? Maybe those who don't come to the forum would at least see it on the front page and maybe put the information on their posts.
This has been brought up several times. I think it's just rude! If you are going to share - then share! That means sharing what you used to make it! Especially because all computers show colors a little differently - we wanna know what you used on it!
I only put a link to my blog if there is a tutorial or something that is too big to put in the info part in the gallery - and even then I always list the supplies used.
I am a "please see my blog for details" gals, but mostly it is b/c I ramble on, or if there is added info on how I did something or measurements I tend to put it on there. But any "needed" info is listed with the pic.
I do however still fill in all of the information as far as sets, colors, etc.

Absolutely! I *always* include basic recipe info for viewers.
For anyone who *really* wants to hear what the little voices were saying to me as I designed that particular piece, I leave a direct blog link to that piece so they can listen in on that chatter . . . ROTFL! Hah! ;)

I really appreciate info as soon as I click on the card. It saves a ton of time - I can then move quickly on and still have time to leave comments. I think if I start visiting blogs I would not have nearly the time to leave comments.

GREAT idea!
I have never referred anyone to that thread but I will now! I usually say something like "I really like this card and I would love to know what colors you used..."might give them a hint but I doubt it.

Actually, I just copy and paste the basic recipe info from my blog, into my SCS gallery upload, in the photo description box. Easy cheesey, lemon squeezey! ;)
So, that way, it's not extra work at all.

When filling out "forms" online, if you leave out a required bit of info, it kicks it back when you try to submit it. Is that a possibility for the gallery? To "reject" the upload until the supply list is filled out? I'm sure there would be ways around it, but it would really catch those who just tack a picture up & run. They would HAVE to type in something on the supply list before the upload would be accepted.

Can SCS insert some little pop up box (not an annoying one) as you are uploading reminding them to post the info. .... or don't let it accept an upload without the info? just thinkin out loud.

Just an idea for bloggers... i fyou are like me and don't like to type the info twice. Upload your card to SCS FIRST... with all the info included... THEN post the card on your blog and link OUT TO SCS for the recipe and further details on the card!
I was hoping by doing this I could introduce some people to SCS who may not have heard of it (people living in a hole)...and SCS already has the perfect format for posting my recipe!

I actually type my blog entry first giving all the deets and silly stories that go along with the card, then upload to SCS, cutting out the silly stuff but giving the info on how I made the card and everything I used. Then I add at the bottom, for more of the BAD Babble, please visit my blog. Most everyone who reads my blog knows that I ramble on about nothing :p

I try to put in all the important info, but sometime I skip colors if its just paper because I don't usually use SU cardstock and I never know exactly what to call it! Any ideas there?
The posters that fail to give info about their cards are generally thoughtless or clueless. It doesn't bother me too much, but I alway make it a point to NOT visit their blogs.

I am so glad someone used the word, "Deets," in context. I've seen it on the signatures of several stampers all day and thought it was the family name of a new stamping company or something. I even thought of a funny sentiment for that family to put on their stationery: Meet the Deets. [Yes, I was born blonde.] So for those of you reading this who are blonde and/or haven't been on SCS for a little while, there's a new abbreviation to go with all the others: Deets, which is short for: Details.
So I don't get accused of hijacking this thread, I will say that I totally agree with most of you ladies--if you're not posting your information (or maybe I can use my new word, Deets, here?!) on SCS, it looks like you're just here to market your blog.
Julie, you always seem to come up with the most diplomatic solutions!

Brilliant idea girlie!! Saves time and welcomes new people to SCS! I like it!

I only have one card in my gallery (so far) and I included basic info, but didn't list actual colors (because I'm new and didn't know them off the top of my head). I just went back in to edit my details, and I received an e-mail saying it was approved, but I just checked and don't see the colors that I listed. Is there a way to edit what I wrote?

I didn't mean to sound too harsh. The clueless cardmakers are those that don't spend too much time here on SCS and just don't know the etiquette. They are forgiven for this faux pas. The thoughtless ones are the ones that want to take the opportunity to advertise their blog and drag me into it. I do not appreciate a ploy to be dragged into yet another blog. I have heard some say, they are too busy to type the details and that is why they post their blog address. I wonder if perhaps they should just share the card then with thier blogees and leave it at that.
Does this sound less harsh? I have a terrible tendency of being too blunt.
