Every year my children's school has a holiday breakfast and bazaar where handmade items donated by parents are sold. Last year I made microwave popcorn sleeves, notepads with matching beaded RSVP pens, holiday tag booklets with crayons, a countdown to Christmas thingy, and two other items that I can't remember. I spent WEEKS stamping and assembling all the items (12 of each), wrapping them nicely, etc., only to see them sold for $1 or less. I was SO disappointed.
The PTO president (new this school year) approached me about 6 weeks ago and asked if I would make some handstamped items for the fair. I explained to her my disappointment from last year and she assured me that she herself would do the pricing ... just to let her know how much I thought they should be sold for. I told her that would be fine and that yes, I'd make some things. The breakfast/bazaar is December 10.
Well ... I've been working for the past three weeks on different items and I don't like any of them. I JUST THREW THEM ALL AWAY!!!!!!!!!! I'm at the point now that I don't want to do anything for the bazaar. I feel guilty, but I just can't do it.

I definitely have times where I'm just not inspired. Coming up with cute gifts is hard especially when you did so many cute things last year. If you haven't already checked the gallery, there are all kinds of cute things in there. Good luck!

Why not make repeats of the items you made last year? There will be new people who haven't seen them, and the people who did buy last year might want more of the same--or not even remember. It's not worth all the stress to come up with something completely new.
Dig them out of the trash!! Just because YOU don't love them, doesn't mean OTHERS won't too!! Especially if they are already made!! ;-)
I can't do that ... I tore them up as I was throwing them away, I was that disgusted. :(
I may still do something, possibly the same things as last year, but to be quite honest, my heart really isn't into it. I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet and usually I'm finished and wrapped by now!
First, stop beating yourself up! We all have times where we are just so creative, we ROCK and then there are those *other* times. You just can't push it. Walk away & if it comes to you later; wonderful~ if not, so be it! Life is too short to stress over everything & this sounds like something you can do without.
OK SUE! Sounds like you need a time out.....from everything that you are commiting to that is! I would just take a break from working on anything for others and take some time for you. If you do not feel up to it I would call and let her know that you will Not be able to help afterall and you are sorry for the inconvience ~ she will just take some cash and go to Big Lots and buy some stuff...no big deal......no one will be any the wiser!
I tend to take on more that I can handle and things end up being a mess too....just take some time and breath and relax....if you feel you have to do something then go out and buy something and tell her you just did not have time to stamp this time.

I feel your frustration. If your heart is not in it, then contact her and tell her that you've overextended yourself, something's gotta give, and it's going to have to be this. And, you know what? It's OK to do that. It means you're human. And, it's OK to be human. Really.
