Will it hold??? I've been having problems with embossing lately where the powder starts to flake off after it cools off. Its only been recently though. I thought these frames would be a great idea for a wedding gift but I don't want all the glitter or embossing powder flaking off after they open it!
I have done some embossing on wood boxes but I embossed on tissue paper (the kind you put in presents) first then attach with decophage. I do not know if direct embossing will work. I suppose it might but you may have to seal it!
Good Luck!

Just a thought: does your Versamark need refilling?

I have done this several times on the frames around dry erase boards & cork boards.
I paint with an acrylic craft paint first, then emboss, then do an antique rub.
If you are having trouble with the embossing sticking, it could be the finish on the frame. Try sanding it first.
I haven't done any embossing on frames yet, I was speaking of embossing that I've done on cards. I will admit that I'm not using a versamark pad or SU! embossing powders yet; but my embossing pad still seems juicy so it must be the powders.
How odd? Perhaps the powder needs to be heated longer on the card? I just started embossing and I use a non-SU! powder from Village Crafts called "Stampendous" and another powder from a local scrapbook store called "Inkadinkado". Both powders work fine...what powder are you using?
I also use a non-SU! ink pad "Top Boss" and "Rubber Stampede"...are you using a pigment ink pad?
I did the wooden frames in my gallery and I haven't had any problems with the embossing coming off. I did have one that I didn't heat enough and when I brushed it half the image came off  But I make sure to heat it long enough now and they've all stuck pretty well....even with my 7 year old helping to package them!
I've done the same thing on cards where I didn't heatset it long enough and it flakes off. That might be the problem..now sometimes I overheat! (I tend to go to extremes! )
Ah yes, there is a fine line between setting it properly and overheating it and warping the paper. I go towards the latter myself. I have no idea what the embossing pad brand is, but I've seen it in many stores so I know I'm not the only one with it; I got it and the embossing powders at Hobby Lobby. I want to say the powders are Ranger ink brand??
