Embossing powder challenged!! HELP!

Good morning ladies.

I am struggling tremendously with the ability to emboss with powder.

I've read other posts with tips to no avail.

My problem lies in not being able to get the extra embossing powder off of the paper prior to using the heat gun.

I've wiped the paper with a dryer sheet, I've tried to use a small brush to brush away the extra.

I just can't imagine everyone is struggling like I do everytime they want to emboss something.

Does the embossing buddy make that much of a difference?

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Don't emboss on humid days, and I have a small paint brush to brush off the extra. I don't use an embossing buddy, but that's b/c I just never bought one.

I think the embossing buddy does makes a difference if I bother to use it...lol.
To get rid of stray powder before using the heat gun, I give a solid "flick" to the back side of the paper (holding upside down) to knock off the stray powder. Works great!

I do the "flick" thing too! It works great! Or just tap the paper behind the spot where its sticking too! I have never used the embossing buddy, but my demonstrator says that she doesn't find it very neccessary. However, if you are having huge problems, maybe it would be good for you?

I find the Buddy to be very useful...when I use it. LOL! It will also probably last me forever, there's so much powder in it.

I have always used the "flick" method, too! However, for some reason, I have found that when I use VersaMark I have fewer "strays". Does this make sense to anyone else????

are you using SU! embossing powders? I think they are the BEST out there.
With an embossing buddy, a "flick" and SU! EPs, I have no problems with "strays".

I resisted the embossing buddy for so long and finally broke down and got one. It's really great and DOES do the job it was intended to do. I always wipe down the area I embosed with a swiffer afterwards. It picks up that white film left by the embossing buddy.

I would say invest in one, it's worth it.

Also try not to handle the paper too much or wash your hands beforehand. Oil from our skin can cause powder to stick.

Smile

Thanks to all...

I live in an extremely dry part of the country... [think semi desert]...

I am a big flicker...

No, they weren't SU embossing powders, and yes, I was using versamark.

Hmmm. Maybe that is the problem.

Anyway, thanks to ALL!!
