Looking for some work pads for making cards. Of course looking for a large quanity for a great price. My fellow stampers and I rotate stamp nights.

Thanks

Do you mean the large paper to go under what you are stamping/to protect your work surface?
If so, I got a HUGE pack of 18x14 (?) plain paper in BJs (like Sams & Costco) for about $5. I bought it two years ago. My kids use it for all their drawing & painting projects and I use it to protect my work surface & we haven't even gotten thru half the package yet! So maybe check out your local wholesale club or if you don't have a membership, maybe an office supply store?

Go to Staples and get the desk calendar planners---I buy a few after the new year when they mark them down. They are somewhat padded and you can tear off the sheets as they get inked up. Works great for me!

another option is to buy newsprint artist pads. You can get them in 11x17 and larger. HL will occassionally have artists pads on sale so you can stock up then.

I like the calendar idea, too.

Ikea has rolls of heavy paper especially for work surfaces. Usually people buy them for their kids to paint or draw on. I use it all the time. They are very cheap, sorry I can't off the top of head tell you how much they are, but cheap. I believe they are 18-20" wide.

I have a stamping tablecloth. My friends and I use it only to stamp on. So if we have a new stamp we are using that night, we add to it. Other than that, one of my friends got me a stamp mat from Michaels. Also, we use cardboard, it is cheap and easy to get. Works well too.

Well I don't stamp without the grid paper, I rely on the grids for so many things, and the ruler at the bottom is just so handy! I know that there will be those who say it's too expensive, but I just don't think that at all. They last me forever, I use them over and over again. I also use a cutting mat underneath, similiar to the SU! one in the catalog, but purchased previously at Michaels in the quilting section.

I bought one of those $1 desk calendars from the Target $1 spot and use that. plus when the paper is full you can just flip it over and tuck the corners back in and start stamping again! can't beat it for a buck!!!

Default Unprinted newsprint

Others have mentioned newsprint artist pads. They're handy, but you're paying extra for having the paper in a pad format. Most self-storage places (such as U-Store-It, check your yellow pages under Storage) also sell moving supplies, including unprinted newsprint. I recently paid about $12 for a 10-pound box; there are plenty of double-page spread size sheets in there to last through many months of personal stamping or several workshops for demos.

You could also contact printing presses or paper mills, if there are any in your area, to see if they give away "stub rolls". These are the last parts of rolls that have just a few inches of paper on them. They come in lots of sizes, from ... I don't know.... 18 inches (or so) wide, up to three or four feet wide, depending on the facility. Obviously the paper might curl a little when you take it off the roll, but you could tape the corners down if necessary.

CTMH sells a pad for this with the grid on it. I'm not sure if it's in the regular catalog anymore...but I know they can order it for their personal use on a supply order. If you have a consultant they could probably get you one.

Personally, I just use a piece of printer paper under my projects...but that's because I'm cheap! LOL!
