I got one of my mag last week and it was featuring the photosmart printers from HP. There's 3 type. I'm looking to see if anyone has that and if they could tell me about it? I'm mostly looking for 1 that will print GOOD pic. I currently own the Kodak Print dock for my digital camera and to be honest, I'm not happy with it at all. Im curious which one will print 5 x7 and 8x10 (which would be once in a while) and also if it could be as a regualr printer and how much the cost for the inks??
This printer is wonderful! I use it for both pictures and my regular printing. I have printed pictures as big as 8 X 10 and they look wonderful. The only problem is that the ink is about $65 for both cartridges. I think that is expensive, but I may be wrong. I use HP 95 and HP 99 ink.
As far as print quality, I think it is great! I love my printer! Good luck!
Hope this helps,
Judy
Hi! I have several HP Photosmart printers (one is the small portable printer that only prints 4x6 prints) and I love them! I will not buy anything other than HP printers. They also seem to last forever! I have one that I have had for YEARS and it still produces great prints!
What you can do also is go to Amazon.com and read reviews for them. That is what I did when I was considering which printer to get (I ended up getting a Canon). I found all of the reviews very helpful and it will also give you other suggestions for similar products and what percentage of people buy what product after viewing the product you are looking at.
I thought it was very helpful. Good luck and have fun. Thanks for your info on the Kodak printer, I was thinking of getting it for my husband for Christmas.
I have the one that's a copier, scanner, printer and I love it. Gorgeous pictures, particularly if you put the photo cartridge in. I like that I can put the memory stick from my camera into the printer and print without having to turn on the computer. I used that feature all the time when my hubby was in Iraq. I could send him a card with a picture (usually of my dogs) taken that day.

Mine is HP7760 and I have been very pleased with it. I printed something yesterday and took it to church. Someone asked where I had my photo printed and then commented "WOW that's good quality!" when I told her that I did in my living room... I get the ink at either Sam's or through the HP website with a coupon. I have been getting the paper at Office Depot - lately it's been buy one get one free (they have been doing this a lot lately - yippee!!!)
I have one of the older models HP1100 and it is still going strong. Prints crisp, clear pictures. The cartridges are pricey but I watch for them to go on sale.
I have a HP 7660 that came with my camera and I really like it. It takes all sizes or digital cards and I can pick to print pics in any size up to 8x10". The cartridges are reasonably priced but when they do go on sale now and then I stock up.

I have this one too and have never had a complaint with the print quality.

I have a really old one too, HP1000 I think (I'm at work). It prints beutiful pictures still, and 5X7's & 8x10's come out gorgeous. The two cartridges together usually run about $58.00 at Walmart. Sticking the memory card into the printer is great too! I always transfer them over to the computer and edit from there tho.

Wow!!! This is timely. I just hooked up my HP 7760 and printed my first pictures last night and this morning. They are fabulous!!! I'm very pleased. I did just learn from HP.com that 7760 is no longer being made and has been replaced by the HP Photosmart 8050.
Here are some of the features that I like. You can purchase a black ink cartridge that is for printing out documents so you can use it for both pictures and your other printing. It has a tray for photo paper 4 x 6 and then a lower tray for 8 x 10 photo paper or 8 1/2 x 11 plain paper. When you set the printer you designate which try to use so you can set it to use the 8 x 10 or 8 1/2 x 11 by selecting lower tray.
I initially bought mine at Walmart, but then returned it when I discovered that I could save $40 by buying from HP directly. At the time they offered free shipping on orders over $100 and no sales tax. But I have had it for several months, just haven't hooked it up, so I don't know what HP.com is offering currently. I would recommend checking out buying directly from them.
The 2 main draws for me are that 1) You can put your memory card directly into the printer without using the computer, so if you wanted to take it with you or didn't want to go through your computer it would be great for that, and 2) the photos from the printer are advertised to last longer than lab developed photos. Yesterday I was pricing out the HP58 ink cartridges and noticed a package with a new enhanced ink formula. It's called HP Vivera and says that it resists fading for 108 yrs. Since I scrapbook this is important to me. From the HP ink cartridge order page for the Photosmart 7700 Series I found the following information on the photo ink cartridge: the average cartridge produces 400 color graphics pages - price is $36.99 per cartridge after $3 mail-in-rebate.
Here is a link with more information on the new Vivera ink cartridge:
I do want to add that a while back on the local news they ran a story on the quality and longevity of pictures printed at home and they said the most important factor in picture quality and longevity is that you use the inks and papers recommended by the printer manufacturer, because they said they are especially formulated to work together. Makes sense to me.
I have the stand alone HP 8450 for photo printing only. It reads the media cards from any camera and I love the quality of the prints!
I can go from a charm size to 11 x 17 and my prints are beautiful.
Because it is a stand alone, I can take anywhere with me to print from anyones camera cards! That is one feature I love, do not need to be joined at the hip with a computer!
I have another HP Scanner and an HP All in one! I can't say enough about the HP products. I have been with them for years!

I am probably kind of late in responding here but I thought I would give my input as I do have a HP photo printer. Mine is the HP Photosmart 3210 All-In-One it can copy, scan & of course print. It does an awesome job! It is hard to tell the difference between professionally/store printed pictures verses the ones printed from this one.
There are actually 6 cartridges black and then yellow, 2 shades of pink, 2 shades of blue I believe are the colors.
You can do almost everything you would do on the computer from the printer except scan.
I have the hp 2410 all-in-one and I love it! I haven't printed any photos using the photo ink cartridge yet. The regular ink cartridges are pricy, but I think it's worth it.
