Default Do you like the Mini Envelope Template?

My SIL is having a party in October and none of the stamps thrill me this year. I thought I might order accessories instead and was looking at this template. Does anyone have it and do you like it? Any suggestions for uses?

Default mini envelope template

I just ordered this after making two different cards at my stamp club using mini envelopes. We basically made a card with a mini envelope (open) on the front and the sentiment coming out of it. Really cute! You also could use these for gift cards you'd attach to a wrapped present. For $5.95, it is a great buy, too!

I LOVE it! I use it in my scrapbooks, I journal on a tag and put it in the envelope. I also have made a few cards with it. Get it, it's very cute!

can i ask how you use these in a scrapbook? more specifically, how does it work with a page protector over the page if you have to take something out of an envelope? just curious.

I have the mini-evelope template and really like it. I use it mostly for scrapbooking, I make a tag and stamp something near the top of the tag (or journal) and put it in the envelope. I just make sure that I only stamp or write on the part of the tag that will show. It's fun to stamp on the outside of the envelope too. I haven't had time to make any cards lately but I'm really brainstorming right now how I might use this on my Christmas cards. Don't have any ideas yet but something will come, I'm sure.

Hi Kim!
One idea I saw that was really cute was to cut a small slit in the page protector where the opening of the envelope (or any hidden journaling) is. Then add a ribbon to the journaling and have that come through teh slit so the journaling can be pulled up and read, then safely tucked back in.

To the OP-I do really like the template and find myself going in waves of its use. When I have it out and handy I find all sorts of good uses for it.

thanks britta! i'm still on the learning curve with scrapbooking and realize that i tend to be rather basic. but i want to branch out and try new things, so this may be one for me to try! the thought of cutting the page protector sort of scares me, i guess i assume i'll ruin it.

well, it still makes me nervous too!
To line it up you could put the page in, then use a stylus to score where the top of the ribbon is to come out, then pull the page out and do the slit.

I've also been considering buying these. For those of you that have it, what size envies does it make? Would one of them fit into the Altoid box?

the template has 5 envies in different styles, and the sizes listed are:
2x3
2x2
1 1/2 x 1 1/2

Hope one of those works out for you!

The mini envelope template is VERY COOL!! My wonderful demo Valli showed us how to make mini shaker cards this weekend and I was smitten. I can't wait until the order comes in. I think it's definitely worth it and for $5.95 it's a GREAT PRICE!!

Take care, Brenda

I love mine. I make them out of vellum, put them on the front of a card, put a tag inside and then use a heart, star, etc punch and make confetti and put that inside too. Here's a link to one I made like that:

I love that it has the holes punched on the side so it can be stored in a binder - that's where I have mine and the other templates in pg protectors. I don't use the mini template very often but I love to have it to make one and put it on the front of a card w/ something to pull out of it.

I've posted a card (see link below) using the mini envelope template with the Holiday Spirit set. The scan doesn't show the colors as well as I would have liked, but it gives you an idea on how to use these wonderful mini envelopes.

I use mine quite a bit ... often on sb pages to hold tags for journalling. I haven't worried about cutting a slit in the page protector ... when I need to read the journalling, I'll reach in and pull out the tag!
Here's a page I did with it:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

They are great with vellum ... they soften up the tag or whatever is inside! This is an example (don't like the card, but it shows the vellum envie) that I have posted elsewhere. I stamped on the inside of the envie before I glued it shut.

Although they are trace and cut, I have been using my stylus/bone folder with mine so that it is more score and cut. That way I don't have to worry about pencil lines showing up! This method works even better with vellum.
