Would anyone be able to direct me to where I can find directions for the adorable Bag Books I've seen lately? They're made from brown paper bags I gather. So adorable. Thanks

BPB books
I just did mine by trial and error from the pictures I had seen, but I now know if you go to the 'Anything But A Card" section and search for bag books there are quite a few there and some have instructions or links. They are very fun and addicting to make. Good luck and have fun!
All I can say is.....unbelievable! That is the one of the most beautiful bag books I've seen! Such beautiful work. Did you all see the final auction price? What do you bet there is going to be a flurry of bag book entries on Ebay now. Thank you for the link. I copied the pics to MS Paint and am going to copy the book for my own mother. (Hmmmm....maybe ebay....)
Thanks for the link to the other site. Her directions were simple and straightforward.
Have a great day...tomorrow's Friday....yay!

Holy Cow!!! I can't believe somone payed that much!!! WOW They are really cool!!!! I thought I looked wrong I had to look again! LOL
The books are amazing! I would like to try one, I making albums for my cousins and brother right now of are grandparents. They would like this idea a lot!
That is a beautiful album. I've seen some other great albums on ebay and other spots. I made one (not nearly as fabulous) for my Mom a few months ago. Just remember that paper bags are *not* acid/lignin free. I don't think those paper bag books are going to hold up forever :-(. So it is not something I would go *all* out making, personally. As for directions, I folded three lunch bags and put them together. I did us eyelets (large, from the fabric store), to reinforce the holes I made. I used three eyelets, next time I would use six. If I used six eyelets I would put them through three layers of bag, so that the insides of the eyelets were hidden inside the book. If that makes any sense. If I didn't reinforce the holes I would stitch down the spine so that there was no stress on the holes the ribbons were threaded through when the book was opened.
Those ebay books are AMAZING! Total eye candy. I just sent the artist an email and asked about what kind of demand she's seen and how long it takes her to put a book like that together. She's so talented! Those are some of THE best bag books I've seen EVAH! Wowza.

I checked out Ebay again this morning. Another very loud OH MY GOSH!!!! I saw a different one priced at $177.00. Yes, that's one-hundred-seventy-seven dollars!!! I really can't believe that. I mean, come on people. But if I was the seller...yeah baby. Anyhow, I just don't really understand it. It's a freakin' paper bag with some scraps of paper and buttons and threads etc. stuck to it. Like a previous post pointed out, they really may not hold up after time. But I am totally inspired to make a few for my mom, grandmothers, sisters and aunts. I won't do as much sewing as those gals have done. I like the first one, Mother, the best. So beautiful.
