If you had to choose between buying the two different types of inkpads--classic (dye) or craft (pigment), which would you choose?
I sent in an SU order and was really on the fence as to which I should order. Although I typically like the craft inks better, I ended up ordering the classic figuring if I wanted to emboss with it, I could use the versamark with them.
I'm very curious as to what most people tend to buy and why.

'Fraid I'm no help, cuz I like both. The classic inks are so great for quick stamping. But the craft inks are so vibrant, so easy to blend, that I can't imagine not having them in my stash. My initial fix was to get all the craft colors in the ink spots and then concentrate on filling out my collection of classic pads. I have since started getting the full size craft pads in my most-used colors.
I have the classic ink pads for now. The craft are more expensive. I like the classic better because they dry fast. But I tend to not use my SU pads as much because I have really started to use my Memento, it doesn't bleed with my copics.

I say classic. They are more "all purpose" and pretty easy to use (dry fast, clear image....). What I do is I get all the classic inks in the big pads because I use them 99% of the time. I have got the craft ink in the "spots". Mainly use them for embossing and half the time when I emboss I use versamark anyway. JMO!

Me too. I use have the classics in the big pads and the spots in the pigment and that does me just fine. I think it's the perfect combo bc the spots are there when I need to emboss or just need that opaque image on darker cs, etc. So, I think you made the right decision. You can add the spots one color family at a time.
Slight hijack: BTW, the spots store in the large plastic clamshell boxes, 2 families per box, just perfectly. These are the same size boxes that the background stamps come in and I don't keep my bgs in boxes so I had the clear plastic boxes already. You can easily see the colors and know when one is 'missing'!

I have to say that mine are heavily used (I stamp almost every day) and have had them for a few years and mine are just fine. Most anything that is used heavily will eventually wear out though. Anyone know if anyone has had this problem with the craft pads?

Hmmm... do you have any that have done this? I've had mine for many many years and buy the in color pads each year and have not had this experience at all! You need to contact your demo and have SU replace your pads. Maybe you just got a bad one.
I have an asst of both SU classic and craft. I started out with craft because of the bolder ink color for my scrapbooking. I got into making cards so ordered some classic colors and of course the in-colors only come in classic. I like the SU craft white pad and do not like the SU craft black.

If you put want to get even black ink off your fingers, just get out the bleach and put to lidfuls in your sink of dishwater with your dishsoap. Not only will it clean your fingers, but it will santize your dishes, and get the yellow off your fingernails that happens when you continually polish your nails with colored nail polish! (Take off ALL jewelry when using bleach! From experience I know that Black Hills Gold will eventually turn black when using bleach in dishwater on a regular basis!)

Mine are all slightly dipped in the centers!! Every single one, old, newer...and in between...Annoying, but I love the colors, so I use them anyway.

Love craft inks but for quick all-purpose card stamping you might want to have a few of your favorite colors in classic. If you have the money, purchase a set of spots in classic and a different set of spots in craft. Then you can see which inks work best for you and go from there. If you get totally into one kind of ink and not the other, you can always sell the spots you don't use.
