I've studied dozens of tutorials and they are very helpful, but I'd love to actually take a class on a topic such as distressing, collages, watercoloring, other coloring mediums, etc.
I live in the Chicago area. Maybe there are classes available here, but I don't know how to connect. I've taken the basic classes at Archiver's, but I'm looking for something a little more challenging.
Is there such a thing as on-line classes for rubber stamping techniques?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

An online class is really like a tutorial and doesn't give you the actual instructor standing by you showing you exactly what you are doing right or wrong. I would look for art stores, art schools stamping stores and check out the work of the teacher offering the classes. Also, some demonstrators offer classes.

Granna,
We live close to each other. I finally gave up and joined the Technique Junkies a few years ago, and BOY!!! It is alot of bang for the buck, and the tutorials are posted on the internet (you need a password to view them) but they are wonderful, especially if you are a visual learner.
I also see online that there is a store in St Charles I want to check it out. I have to have wrist surgery next week, so maybe in aa month or so, if you want to go on a road trip with me, I would be up for it- we can see if they have classes there and check it out!
I would highly recommend finding demonstrators for different stamping companies in your areas as many of them probably offer the types of classes you are looking for. The best way to do that is to go to the demosntrator locator on the stamping company's website. That should get you the names of several demonstrators and you might be able to view their websites where they list their stamping events. If they don't have a website you might try sending them an e-mail or calling to find out if they offer the classes you're looking for.
If you can't get out and want to just do the classes in your home, the Stamping School (http://www.stampingschool.com) has a great website with lots of video tutorials that you can watch right on your computer. I love her site!

Hi Granna-
Do you have any local scrapbook stores near you? (What do you call those types of stores? Privately owned ones not a chain like ACM or Michael's). Many of these stores have visiting artists/teachers who come and teach specialized classes for a few days. I will be taking one in few weeks with Tim Holtz (I'm a beginner and am a little frightened, but why not)
Thanks for all of your great ideas. I'll do some more research. Boy, would I love to take a class with Tim Holtz. Yowza!

There is a store in St Charles called The Pretty Palette and they run a variety of classes. I lived in Batavia up until last November and went to this store frequently. The lady who owns it is super nice - her name is Charlotte. Anyway, most Sundays they have classes and priced reasonably. Darn, I can't find the website - usually all the classes are listed there. They also do make & take days... 3/4 'teachers' will have projects set up and they charge by project. HTH

The Pretty Palette closed up her store and now operates a small booth inside one of those little co-op stores (I think on 3rd Ave.) She has a table in there but I don't know if she does organized classes anymore. When I was in there she indicated she had had some health problems.
