Hello, I am quite new on here and newish to cardmaking. I wondered if anyone could guide me to anywhere I might get inspiration for cards for men. I have made a few and been to workshop but feel there is something lacking in my final designs. :( Don't seem to have same problem with cards for females. Anne
If you have any stampin up stamp sets, go to the gallery on this site,
type in a stamp set ( in the search box) and it will bring up whatever cards have been made by members. There may be some that would work for masculine cards.
If you have any masculine stamps, like cars, or whatever, enter that theme in the search, and it will bring up cards, and you can use them as inspriation. and welcome, this group will give you a lot of inspiration

Try doing a gallery search for "masculine" cards. Just type in "masculine" and that should pull up quite a few. You can also try one for "no layer" cards, as those tend to be simpler which can be more appropriate for men.
If you're like me, the reason your cards don't feel finished is that often male cards are boring. They don't have glitter or many embellishments. We get so used to adding bling and things to our cards that they don't look finished to us without all of that stuff!

Another thing you can do is to click on "Gallery" at the top right of the screen. Then, about an inch down from the top left of the screen, click on "Occasions Gallery."
There are some subjects listed, but if you scroll further down the screen, you'll see another grey bar entitled "Galleries by Theme." Then click on "Masculine" theme listed under that heading.

When I am running short of ideas for cards of any type, but most often men, I take a field trip to my local Hallmark store. I see what kinds of things they are doing and how I might be able to paper craft that idea with my stamps and supplies. What I notice about men's cards generally is that there are lots of neutral colors or red and blue, green and blue combos. Often you will find some kind of texture and either nature images, spots, cars or cartoony animals. But I haven't been for a field trip in a while. It might be time to do another just to see if anything has changed.

Masculine cards are really hard for me! I just always feel like they aren't "finished". They seem too simple or boring or whatever. I think it's because, like kikikaren said, they don't have glitter or embellishments! I love pretty colors and a little sparkle or bling or scallops. I'm girly. So making guy cards is tough.
With my Gazelle (digital die cutter) though I seem to be on a roll lately. I'm knocking out as many guy cards this week as I can, because I know this won't last and then I'll be frustrated with my guy cards again! (LOL!). I'm making a card with an ATV on the front going over a sand-dune, one the inside it will say "Hope your birthday is quite the ride". Then another with an electric guitar on the front, embossed music note background, and on the inside it says "Have a rockin' fun birthday". Still another will have a lighthouse on the front with some ocean scene but don't know what to put inside yet.
And then I ran out of ideas!
And I still have the urge to put some sparkle on them or pretty colors or scallops or....
Often we forget some other embellies that can be used in place of glitter or pretty ribbon- if you feel the need to add a finishing embellishment, try-
twine
twill
buttons
staples
brads
or I often do paper piercing as well.
masculine cards are often challenging- I usually stick with neutrals as well as a pop of orange or red.
