Guelph is most certainly one of Ontario's nicest places to live! are you at OVC by chance? I used to be a "kittynurse" before kids etc...LOL

Joann - just the other side of Stratford

Spacey 01-03-2006 09:12 AM

Its good to see soo many saskatchewanites!!! I am just starting out as a demonstrator!! If anyone has any advice I would love for you to share it!!!!

kittynurse 01-03-2006 09:44 AM

Hey Joann

I'm at U of G but not OVC. That was my original intent when I came here 15 years ago but that plan changed and I became a "kittynurse" instead! LOL that you got the name! The only ones to get it (I use it on other boards too) are fellow techs.
I'm not working at the moment since I had my son last year but I am back at school trying to finish up my degree.
Did you work at OVC or a clinic?
I agree - Guelph is awesome! I don't even miss city living. Ironically, my DH's family all live in way smaller towns and we are considered the "city folk" in the family! LOL!
For some reason Mitchell is ringing a bell with me but I can't figure out why. Would we pass by it on the way to Brussels? That is where my sister-in-law and father-in-law live.

Martha

JMCDA 01-03-2006 11:25 AM

depending on what way you go...you have very likely gone through Mitchell on the way to Brussels which is just a bit north and west of us.
I graduated from Seneca 28 years ago just when Animal health - now called Vet tech - was a brandy new program. We did part of our studies at OVC and the rest at the Eaton Campus in King City. I met my hubby in school and married him the year I graduated, otherwise I would have taken up the offer from OVC to continue into Vet college. Ironically Guelph expanded the programs and moved (or added) the campus down to Ridgetown - which is my home town! ...but I wouldn't have met my hubby if I had been able to stay at home! LOL

..haven't worked at it for years, I could prolly still do the practical stuff, but I am sure I am way out of date with the lab work.

Anyone else in the area? I grew up in Mississauga but moved here to go to school - I love it!

Hey Kittynurse - I lived in Guelph for a year...many years ago. I was a poor student then. Is the Bookshelf still alive and kicking?

Hey Joann - I knew the name Mitchell was familiar! Cool that you know Brussels too - most people look at me crazy when I say I went to Brussels for Christmas! I quickly have to add "Ontario, not Belgium!"
That's cool that you did some of your studies at OVC. I'm guessing the Animal Health Centre wasn't built at Seneca yet (which is where I went to school too!) Too bad about the Ridgetown thing for you. Neat about how you wouldn't have met your hubby though. I wouldn't have met my hubby either if I didn't go to Guelph!

KellyBee - The Bookshelf rocks! It has expanded quite a lot over the years. I'm sure you would be surprised if you came to visit. Were you a student at U of G?

Greetings from Vancouver Island...Nanaimo to be exact. We like to call our island the California of Canada...those darn crocuses are sprouting up already! They love this coast!

I'm surprise, and happy, to see so many Canadians on the site! Happy Stamping!

Proud to be Canadian

It is so nice to see all the people from Canada. Most of the forums I have looked at are all from the US.

I am basically a "Prairie Brat". Born in Regina, Sk (Still have family there), moved to Wolseley, SK (1 hr east of Regina, and still have family there), moved to Young, SK (1 Hr east of Saskatoon), Rainbow Lake, AB (Northwest corner of Alberta), Saskatoon, Sk, Minnedosa, MB (1/2 hr north of Brandon), back to Saskatoon, and have been in Edmonton (NW Corner of the city) for last 6 years.

DH is posted here, so don't know if we will spend his whole career here, or if we will end up moving to someplace else.

I have only been doing the card making for the last 10 months, but I got hooked. And thanks to my DH, I also find embelishments at different types of stores. For those of you in and around the Edmonton area (or if you have a Whole Sale Sports near you), check out the fishing sections (both regular and fly fishing) of Wholesale sports. They have a really cool reflective tape, that adds the right touch to a card. But I still like SU for the main supplies, especially the paper.

Also, I got for my birthday last year, a large tackle box from DH. You might think that it is funny, but it holds all my stamping spots, tools, cleaner's some embelishments, chalks, water color pencils, and I still have room. I wouldn't have thought about getting one for craft supplies, but it works great for holding everything when I go over to friends houses for stamp days.

Would anybody be interested in doing an Edmonton (and area) swap? That way we could save everybody postage. Just meet for coffee some where and do the swap?

Hope everybody has a great new year?

Lynn

Yes, once upon a blue moon...I actually transferred from MUN the year after my then boyfriend who did Microbiology at U of G. Got homesick after 2 semesters and moved back home...have lived in St. John's ever since. I loved the Bookshelf. Every now and then I dream of opening a similar place here.

I'm another one from Edmonton (NW area), born and raised. Love this city, don't think I'd ever leave it. Been a demo since halloween, haven't done much yet... I'm kinda shy. I've made it a resolution to get more into the business aspect, and try to be more outgoing.

Can't remember if I've actually replied to this stream. I like to watch to see if anyone lives close to me as well. I'm from Crescent Beach (lower mainland), BC.

I just moved to St. Thomas, Ontario this past summer. We lived in the Wallaceburg/Chatham area all my life except for when I went to Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.

I would love to chat with other demos or non-demos who live around the London/St. Thomas area!!

curias 01-03-2006 07:47 PM

Where are you from

I live downtown Toronto. I am just starting to be a demonstrator, but I have been scrapbooking for 1 1/2 years. I basically scrapbook my 3 year old daughter. I have gotten into card making, which I am hoping to expand my techniques. There are a lot of great challenges on this site that I want to participate in.

Kimmie - there is a great scrapbooking store -The scrapbook studio- http://www.scrapbookplus.com/index.htm on Hyde Park Road in London that I always spend too much money in!!! and 2 really good stamp stores - Stamp Art on Adelaide (www.stampart.ca/ ) and The Stampshack (www.stampshackcanada.com or www.artfulstamper.com)in the downtown city centre mall - they are the manufacturers of the artful stamper line of stamps.

lots of great shopping in your own backyard!

Joann
in Mitchell north of London but originally from Kent county and moving back as soon as possible!

..also, we have been trying to get a stamping group going in London and area - will let you know if there are any meetings coming up!

Canadian Store

I am wondering, with all the great fellow Canadian's out there, does anybody know where I could find some glossy card stock, other than white. I saw a great looking card, done on black glossy, and would love to try it, but I can't find anybody around Edmonton that sells the black glossy.

Thanks.

Lynn:D

scrappy12 01-20-2006 06:40 AM

Any more Canadians out there.

I would love to get a hold of some black glossy as well.

Another one from Edmonton....love the city, but with so many demos in the area it's pretty hard to find customers/new recruits! :)

From Swift Current originally....saw someone mention Colleen Mooney, I was a year younger than her, but was friends in early high school. Weird to see someone mention a name you know...:)

Hi,
I'm from St. Albert - just north of Edmonton. I work part-time in a great scrap booking store called A Paper Affair. I'm lucky to have access to several stores in and around Edmonton. Nice to see so many Canadians are here.

reneejul1 01-26-2006 07:45 PM

Hello!

Hello to all my Alberta northern neighbors! I live one hour south of the Canadian/Montana Border. Apparently, "Turner Valley" is one of our sister towns - whatever that means! I've never been to Canada, but I feel it coming soon - only Canadians are TRUE lovers of ice hockey and I'd kill to see a game (short drive north for me, too!)!

kaenasmommy 01-26-2006 11:07 PM
