Default Blog comment help!

There are a couple of blogs that I visit from time to time and I would love to be able to leave comments but they have the type of blog that doesn't have an option to put in your email address/url/name - instead you have to have a Google account or an "OpenID"...

Is there a way to leave comments without having to have these accounts? I've attached a word doc with a shot of the comments section so you can see what I'm trying to ask about! The first picture is what the comments section looks like as Google Account is the default. The second picture is the options you get when you select OpenID.

TIA.

Can you just select anonymous? then put your name and email (if you want it shown) in the comment section? Before I had a google account I always had to post as anonymous....

Those options annoy me too.

I think your only option is to include a link to your blog in your actual comment.

And then hope that people will change their commenting options.

Unfortunately, there is no "anonymous" option...just Google Account or OpenID...I have a WordPress account but, like Joan, I have not found the magic combination to be able to leave comments.

Hopefully, someone will know the answer - even if the answer is that you can't leave comments if you don't have a Google Account...

It's not a huge deal but if someone leaves a comment on my blog and they leave their URL I try to make a point to visit and leave a comment. A couple of my readers have blogs but I can't leave them some love. :(

I don't use gmail and am not going to change my email to comment on blogs. However, I have an old blogger based blog that is active and I just use that for open id. I would love to be able to comment with my name and a link to my typepad blog. But I cannot figure out how to do that.

This isn't a big deal in life, just one little annoyance!

I can never get it to work either, no matter what I put in it. Very irritating.

Can anyone who successfully uses OpenId for comments please tell us what you type in there to get it to work?

What's their point in being so selective as to who can leave comments and how you leave them?

I am so glad that others don't know the answer to this. I thought I was the only one. I feel like I am in a support group for commenting impaired people!

THis has been driving me nuts--I've been working my way through Operation Write Home's Memorial Day hop (I'm stop #71, if anyone's been yearning for a goofy-cute matchbook card), and it gets cumbersome at those stops that don't give you more options.

I hope my stop isn't doing that to people--I turned off all the anti-spam measures, so hopefully it's not. . . . .

Hope someone that knows about Open ID can tell us more. . . .
