Default Blender pens

I just got the Watercolor Pencils and started using them with a blender pen that I have, NOT SU, it keeps making the black ink run/bleed...is this normal??

Is there anything I can do to prevent this?? I'm using SU classic ink pad and good quality CS. Do the SU aqua pens do this?

There are some here who will tell you the SU black is not waterproof, but I have found that if you use it on SU ultrasmooth paper and let it dry completely (overnight) it is waterproof. That said I used a non SU blender pen, before I got into SU and it was horrible. Get yourself a set of the SU ones and you'll see a difference. The only other suggestion I have is to use Stazon ink instead of the SU black. It IS waterproof and will not smear at all. But it will stain your stamps. HTH

You could also emboss it with detail black before watercoloring. That definately will not run!

OK, but this suggestion brings on another question...how do you get all the embossing powder off the area you don't want embossed?? When I use the black embossing powder I can't get it off the smaller areas where I don't want it. So sorry to be a nerd!

Use an embossing buddy or even sometimes fabric softners sheets will work also.

A couple of thoughts:
1 - after you stamp your image, spray your cardstock with a very light coat of Krylon Matte Spray. (found in the spray paint section - not very expensive!). That will seal your ink and it will not run - even on very cheap white cardstock. You will love watercoloring after you use the Matte Spray - your colors will blend better and your paper won't "pill."

2 - when I emboss (and I don't own an embossing buddy, yet), I turn the paper over and give it several "thunks" with my finger. That gets most of the powder off. If there are still stray spots of powder, I use a small paintbrush to get them off.

Hope this helps.

I stamp with black staz-on when I plan to watercolor. Works great!! I've also had good luck with the TAC palette ink.
