I am snow bound and the kids are off school for the next 7 days, I thought i should learn something new.
I want to make a cake treat box so I found a pdf in the downloads forum.
Now how do I print it on cardstock at the right size?
I am so not computer savvy so go ahead and talk to me like I am 5 years old (Which I believe I am in computer years, while my 15 yr old dd is at least 30 in computer years LOL!)
thank you so much
The problem (and idea of) a pdf file is that it can't be modifed without purchasing (imho) pretty expensive software. The directions say to print that out - then use a photocopier to increase the size 200%. Does that help at all?
oh does that mean I have to go to a copy shop? I guess I will play with my printer and see if it enlarges. I have never tried to do it before.
thanks for responding.
With our HP printer I tried going into Print Properties, Effects, selecting the % of Normal Size (inputting 200), and printing. But it made it too big and went off the sheet of paper because it also includes the header the top.
Then I tried saving it, importing it into my photo editing program, cropping it, enlarging it and then printing it. It works, gets a little bit blurry, but it works.

so I took the problem to my husband. My printer doesn't enlarge (?) his does. I had the same problem of it running off the page, I just cut it out put it back on the screen in a different direction and got it all on. Then i realized i only needed to do this once and I can take that copy up to my printer and print it right on the cs. brilliant.
I couldn't figure out how to import it to my photo editing. I really need to take a class.
Unless you have Photoshop, PDF files won't import into a photo editing program because it isn't technically a picture file. Photoshop and the file format PDF are both Adobe.
You will have to change the pdf file into a jpg. My brother told me how to do that a little while ago, it takes a little time to do but it is possible.
This is what you have to do:
hold down the CTRL key and then hit the PRTSC key (mine is on the top row ) ( (this will "take a picture" of your screen)
Then open up your "paint program" and select
CTRL+V
The same picture will appear now with everything else around it that was on the screen. You'll have to use your paint tools to erase the things that should'nt be there.
After that is done you'll select save and you can choose the type of file you want.
You can also copy only part of a PDF file using the Snapshot Tool in Adobe Reader. It's very easy to do. Here's a link to illustrated directions on my website: Copy Part of a Digital Stamps PDF File.
