Default Best Dark Black Card Stock

I absolutely LOVE the way bright colors pop on a really black black, such as on this napkin: https://www.usnovelty.com/products/p...gn=sag_organic

But none of the black card stocks I have are as jet black. Glossy card stock may be super black but I’ve had challenges trying to consistently stamp well on glossy. And, though I love the look of shimmery card stocks, it is hard to get a jet black from them as the materials that make it shimmery tend to lighten the color.

So I’m reaching out to ask if anyone has a go-to jet black card stock they use with bright colors. I’m not overly concerned with weight, as I can always layer to a base card to add weight.

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.
Debbie

Gina K Designs! All her cardstock is fabulous. She has two weights. Cover and layer.

Gina K cardstock is good and is heavy base, 100 lb in black. There is no layering in black. It is currently out of stock, but you can leave your e-mail and will be notified when it is available. It is a solid black and I loved using it when I had it.

I have used other cardstock companies as well. I like The Stamps of Life Licorice. It is 80 lb and cuts wonderfully. Here is her link: https://thestampsoflife.com/licorice-cardstock.html

I have used MFT black. It is also a nice weight and is solid black. It is 110 lb: https://thestampsoflife.com/licorice-cardstock.html

These days I use more SU than anything and it is 80 lb. The colors is very much like the other ones I mentioned. I do not notice a difference.

Default Dark black cardstock

I have Gina K black, but Hero Arts and Papertrey black is darker. Papertrey is smoother than the Hero Arts. All are great though!

I know what you mean, Debbie! I haven't found a great black cover stock either. Right now I have SU basic black...not terribly impressed. It's not really black. I have Michaels black that is really heavy. Also have Gina K. Neither one have a real "smooth" black. It looks like they have variation in color intensity, which makes them both look less black. However I confess to looking closely at the papers...from a distance they look "OK".

Next time I get black paper I intend to get Neenah Classic Crest Cover in Epic Black. It has the "smoothest" black of any that I have seen. No color variation across the surface at all.

Diane,
Do you have a source for the Neenah that doesn’t require you to buy a ream of it? I’d kind of like to try it before I commit to the cost of a ream of it.

Debbie...I don't have a supplier in mind. I have the sample book from Neenah and I'm pretty impressed with the paper. I like Neenah anyway, and am switching over more of my paper to them. I was just intending to buy the larger amount. By the way, Amazon is very competitive on the Neenah packages, at least at the current time.

I found Neenah 100 lb. cover black cardstock in a pack of 10 sheets reasonably priced on Amazon a couple years ago when I needed black. It is heavier than what I choose to use for layering, but is nice for die cutting, and looks to my eyes to be a true dark black.

I've been impressed with Bazzill colored cardstock...be sure to buy the heavier version though.  Joann's is where I buy it...on sale.

I too had been on a quest for the deepest. darkest, black cardstock. I found it at cardstock-warehouse. It is also available in a deep, dark, navy. To date it is darkest black I have found. I bought a set of their cardstock samples and have found it to be helpful. You can also buy single sheets of it to try…

I have found Hero Arts Pitch Black to be the most saturated black cardstock of all the ones I’ve tried over the last 30 years.

Hero Arts Pitch Black is the blackest of the bunch. It's much darker than Gina K's which is a nice black also.

Believe it or not, the Fabriano Black Black is just a little blacker than the Hero Arts. Side by side, the HA has a slight color cast.

I've never posted before.  I'd like to know where to buy glossy black card stock.   I bought a 25 sheet pkg. from Amazon and erred and bought regular card stock.   ugh.

Tonic Studios makes a glossy black, it's their Craft Perfect line of cardstock. It's sold out on their website, but other companies sell it.

Jennifer McGuire uses Erin Lee Creative Glossy Black CS.  That's also where she gets her holographic CS.
