You can knot your ribbon, slip one side through the charm, and then either re-knot or tie in a bow. You could slip a piece of hemp through a tag and the jump ring and then knot. I'm sure you will get a wealth of other suggestions from the talented people on this site.

I have to say that after that lead issue with some of the charms at Micheals & other hobby stores, I don't care for the use of charms. I just don't trust that some child will not see the card, beg mommy for the charm for a bracelet or necklace & suffer from lead poisoning. I think this is a shame, but with so much made overseas, I doubt of the cheapo companies really care too much about our children....
I guess I should apologize for hijacking this thread, but this is an issue I feel passionate about...
Just thought of another idea - you can tie your ribbon either in a knot or a bow and then tie the charm on to the center of the ribbon with a piece of gold or silver cord.

I agree, I had to return $30 worth of charms to Michaels because of the lead recall. I'm just galad I saw the recall notice they had posted. Supposedly the ones they carry now are lead-free but it makes you wonder... Anyway, I have some cute plastic charms that I am going to use.
