Default ATG Question

Which ATG "gun" am I looking at getting? I see both a 714 and a 700. Which is better? What's the difference? And what refills do you get for them??

Thanks!

One of them the 714 I think can only take the 1/4" tape, the other one can use 1/2" or 1/4" with an adapter. It depends what you need, I went with the 714 because you can do 2 passes of the 1/4" to get 1/2" strip but you can't take away. I have had no trouble with the 1/4". I make cards and scrapbook

I have the 714 also. I use the 1/4" Gold. It's the only one (I think) that specifically says it's acid free. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Wouldn't want to make anything without it. I mainly make cards. But it works for some 3D stuff too. And WHEN I do decide to start scrapbooking -- I'll use it for that too. HTH!

I love my 714, and I am rather new to stamping so I definitely will love it.

I'd recommend the ATG 714 also that holds the 1/4 inch tape. Use it all the time!!

Happy Stamping and Scrapping

I use the 714, and I'd recommend it for papercrafting because it's more versatile. If you're in a situation where you really think you need a 1/2" wide strip for anything, just lay down a second strip of adhesive next to the first strip. I find the ATG adhesive significantly stickier than monoadhesive and I've never needed to use a second strip.

Nancy,

I had the red one which is 714 with the refills 924 at your house the other night.

I'll got it from http://www.nhsmedia.com/atgtapes.htm which is a Cdn source with very reasonable shipping any of the US ones didn't ship to us.

The difference between the 714 and 700 is the thickness of the tape.

714 holds 1/4" tape only.

700 holds 1/2" tape and 1/4" tape with an adapter.

I know you don't scrapbook so 714 ATG with 924 tape is your best bet.

The 908 gold tape is the acid free one.

Another vote for the 714 - I have had one for about 2 years and I love it. It did take me several times to get replacing the tape right, but now it's no big deal.

Joan, what's the deal with yours - why is it not working??

Joan - can you not get the tape on it or is it just not releasing the tape...

When I went to change my roll the first time I could not for the life of me figure out how to do it and I found a picture here at SCS that showed exactly how to thread it - I saved my picture ot my home computer or else I would paste it here...when I changed out my roll the other day I had to refer back to the picture as well...

I have the 714 and love it...worth every penny. I have a few rolls of the acid free tape but I bought some of the rolls of larger amount (not acid free)...

I will never go back to tape runners (ok maybe for a class I will have to use them...)

I got mine from framing supplies and it showed up like 4 days after i ordered it

What does ATG stand for?? I take it it's some kind of craft company, but doing a search for ATG comes up with nothing to do with crafts.

ATG is a brand that 3M makes... do a search for ATG Adhesive Applicator or ATG Tape Gun

Thanks for the information all... and for the great info on the good price, Shannon!!! That's a $22 difference from another Canadian source I was looking at!

I have forwarded the information to my husband in hopes that I get it for Christmas. If I don't, I'll be ordering it on December 26th!

I think ATG stands for Adhesive Transfer Gun. I use the 714 and have never felt the need for a thicker adhesive than 1/4". I have heard inprevious threads here or at Two Peas that the 908 Gold adhesive is stickier than the 924 adhesive. I don't know if this is true since I only use the 908 Gold because I don't have to think about changing a roll between scrapbooking and making cards.

ScrampShopper.......Thank You for answering my simple question. Now I can do a search for the item. I'm always looking for different items for glueing. Especially if they are heat resistant that I can use them for heat embossing.

Tell Bruce he has lots of time too if he orders it today as it is sent expediated for the shipping. I ordered on a Thursday and had it on a Tuesday.

I hope you get one. I thought I should show you the place as I did my research of all the sites when I went to go buy and NHS was the best price.

I have a few rolls of 908 gold tucked away in case I ever get inspired to scrapbook, LOL, but I mainly use the 987. It's 60 yds for about $2.50! Love not having to change those rolls very often! Very sticky. :-)
