I spray paint mine so the writing isn't a problem. I'm not a fan of gold, I prefer copper, so it hasn't been a problem. I tried nail polish remover and 91% rubbing alcohol, neither worked. I know the stuff they use on those is fairly strong, so it may take a lot to work that off.
You can just glue ribbon around the edge to hide the writing. I also paint mine - with spray paint. So far I've done copper and black with speckles (the speckles came because I spray painted some other things other colors and got overspray :oops: but turns out the speckles look great!)
Ie just taught a class and made a distressed look tin by sanding to give it a worn look and then rubbed green, black or mustard stazon over it not covering completely. Then stamped with stars. Looked great!
Made a 5 page mini book to go inside. Also they would be beautiful gift boxes for small items like jewelry
