Here's the one I made this year: Countdown Calendar

And here's a different spin on the idea that I saw on MacKenzie Bruckler's blog this morning: Countdown Banner

My kids started their countdown this morning with a treasure hunt. (The drawers are too tiny for gifts, so I will put clues to gifts that are hidden somewhere in or around the house.) I wrote a short poem with the clue, and then they took off to find it.

Incidentally, my family just got into geocaching, so I might hide some gifts in the yard, along with coordinates, and let my kids search outside too. Anything to trick them into getting exercise! LOL

Thanks Avonlea! I just read on another msg bd that someone else was looking for the KF calendars and had no luck, but then found some plastic ones at Walgreens for $3.99. I haven't seen them myself, but just passing along the info that I read.

Default Box Die Advent Calendar

I wish I and seen this thread last year when I decided to make one. I wanted a calendar that could actually hold a treat or small gift, so I came up with this:
#2 Box Advent Calendar by karjor - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
using the Stampin Up Sizzix #2 box die. It was a big hit, and I carefully packed it away - can't wait to get it out again and fill it up. Additional closeup in my gallery.
