Many times when I've adhered a ribbon embellished piece of cs onto my card front, the adhesive gradually starts to pull off. I've used many different adhesives and/or lots of adhesive, but I've had to resort to using craft dots. The dots hold the ribbon embellished cs piece down but they're really too thick; they're like using 3-D dots which isn't the look I want when I want it to be flatter.
Sometime I don't even need to use a mini glue dot if the ribbon is thin enough, just glueing the layered cardstock to the front of the card is enough to hold the ribbon in place.

I usually run my ATG along all the edges of the CS I am using add the ribbon to the back run the ATG over the area that the ribbon ends are and put it onto the card base, or the next layer, I have never had any problems with the layers coming apart so far.
I use double stick tape on the back of the cs. Fold ribbon around underneath the card front, adhere to ds tape, then put another piece of ds on top on the ribbon and attach to whatever you're putting the card front on. (Clear as mud?!) Not too thick and easy enough I can do it!
I also use my ATG. I dont like even the smallest lump from the tiny glue dots...
blessings.
Guess I should have said I use the glue dots on the back of the cardstock. Not the front where, yes a bump would show.

I'm probably still in the Dark Ages, but I wrap the end of the ribbon around to the back of the card and use regular scotch tape to secure it. I've never had ribbon come undone this way.
I use Mono Multi to adhere the cardfront to my card base, and usually put a little extra where the scotch tape is.
