Default Adding sparkle to background

I'm a new stamper, working on Christmas cards. I sponged an accent color onto a white CS background sheet--it's pretty, but a little blah.

Is there something I could spray or dust over it to give it some sparkle?

I don't need an archival-quality solution--but would like for the cards to last a couple of months!

Thanks for your ideas!

I did this for a make and take at a crop we had recently. What we did for the background was take one small travel-sized bottle of non-aerosol hairspray and mixed in 1/4 tsp of silver Pearl Ex powder. We spritzed it on the cardstock (ours was Brocade Blue) and it made the cardstock sparkly! It looked very pretty and festive. Very easy.

You can also use gum arabic powder for the same effect. You need about 1/4 teaspoon per 2 teaspoons for pearl ex in a palm size spray bottle.

was thinking of the pearl ex in the pump hairspray thing too. very pretty!

for a quicker fix, you can also stamp with versamark and then rub with pearl ex. gives the advantage of making specific sparkly objects whereas the hair spray version is more diffused.

I've used the spray glitters from Krylon - they work well but don't spray indoors. They are a pretty fine glitter, more delicate than spraying with the webbing.
