Once I've spent my Christmas money, I'm not buying any new stamps until I use every image stamp I own at least once. This should take me three years, LOL! (Which also means I prolly won't stick to this resolution, but I'm going to see how long I can go, by golly!) As I use all those image stamps, I'm going to get rid of stamps that I struggle with...not worth having them if they aren't my style or don't fit my needs.

I'm also going to focus on USING rather than HAVING all those embellishments and pretty paper I hoard.

I'm going to scrap more, too. I made hundreds of cards this year, but I have only scrapped about 5 pages for 2008, so I need to get moving on the scrapping.

1. Catch up on all the journaling I've been avoiding in my scrapbooks.
2. Allow things to be used whenever for whatever. For Christmas I broke down and let my three year old use some of my paint I'd been hording to put handprints on a shirt for daddy. He loved it. I realized the joy of him using it was way more precious than saving it for something special.
3. Use stuff up before buying more - paper, embellishments, ribbon, etc. I'm very into not hording stuff anymore.

Thumbs up

So glad that you posted this question!!! I did this last year and it was a lot of fun to see what everyone was gonna try to focus on. I have several so here goes:
  • my first goal is to stop spending money on scrap supplies!!! I am a scrapbook supply shopaholic. so my first goal is to go 90 days without buying anything scrapbook, papercraft or stamping related. just gonna use my stash.
  • next, I'm bound and determined to start using those expensive tools that I just had to have: Cricut, Cuttlebug, Sizzix Sidekick, Design Runner.
  • next, is the tools that were not quite as expensive but even so they still have tons of potential: shape punches, border punches, stitching templates, doodling templates, templates for setting eyelets and brads in a specific shape etc.
  • then of course are those oodles and oodles of stamps! rubber stamps, clear stamps, unmounted stamps, SU wheels. I want to include more stamping on my layouts.
  • lastly, with all these supplies and great tools I already own, I want to hand make more of my embellishments.
start in January making cards for all sorts of occassions that I will need them for throughtout the year. Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
That's all I can think of for now. Can't wait to see what's on everyone else's mind!;)

My goal is to establish a card stash.... I have tried this before and have failed! I just want to be able to grab an appropriate card when I need one and not have to resort to purchasing one instead. (especially "get well" and "sympathy" ones.

Well, since you said "craft" (not just stamping/scrapbooking), I'm determined to finish my DD's quilt that I started 2+ years ago. I also have 4 memory quilts to make plus a Baby Bow-Tie quilt I started 9+ years ago that I need to revisit. This is all in addition to any paper-crafting I'll be doing. I think that should keep me on my toes for most of the year.

My goal is to make a scrapbook for my oldest son before he graduates from high school this spring. I've been collecting the supplies for years, but just haven't done the actual scrapping part yet!

Well, I'm almost three years behind in scrapbooking so obviously that's pretty high up on the list.

I also didn't take very many pictures the last year, so I plan to take more pictures this year.

Like someone else mentioned, I would like to be at a point where I can just pull a handmade card out of my stash instead of making them on an as-needed basis and then ending up stressing myself out because I need something in a hurry.

I'm also going to try to branch out a little bit more and not limit myself to buying just Stampin Up.

And I suppose I should resolve to use my supplies before I buy new ones, but I don't hold a lot of hope on that one.

I also want to build up my stash again. I did build up a decent one earlier this year but as I and my friends and my family depleted it, I just didn't seem to find the time to restock.

All your responses are good and I could just say "ditto" to every one of them. I buy and hoard - so I really like the USE what I am HOARDing. I also need to make more cards ahead of time and stay on top of scrapping the new grandson and a new coming in April. I do take A LOT of pix. I heard my kids (in their 30s) say that I always took pix of them and will surely do the same with their kids. Like many of you, I am the photographER and never the photographEE. No pix of me anywhere. I know I cannot go 90 days without buying anything. After 30 days I spent WAY TOO much like I would never be back again. That doesn't count what I buy from SU as a demo. Good Luck to everyone!

My #1 goal is to get my craft room reorganized and keep it that way.

I'm sure accomplishing that goal will allow me to become more productive - it's next-to-impossible for me to be creative when I'm surrounded by chaos.

1. Build up a card stash.
2. Use the supplies I have (stop hoarding).
3. Resume taking pictures of every card made (I used to, but stopped
when my scanner died a couple years ago.)
4. Have fun!!

I envy everyone and their goals. I am starting to pack my stuff up tomorrow to make way for Baby #1. I just hope I can get to some of my stuff while it is being stored.

Ditto! This is exactly what I was thinking of as my goal for 2009.

I'm always a little jealous when I hear of people having to thin out their card stashes  while I'm scrambling to get a card made for someone at the last minute.

My other crafty goal is to get and stay organized. I have a craft table here in my computer room, and right now I can barely get to it, let alone see the top of it. Craft supplies, various storage boxes and bags from Christmas, mail, and everything else gets dumped in my craft area. I want to get it organized so I can sit down and craft without having to make room first.

Congratulations on your first child! Having had 3, I'll tell you right now don't worry about crafting! Just do what you must around the house and spend your time with your little one. After my first, I kept up with housework but I also spent a lot of time just holding her. I got to craft after she went to bed at night, but during the day I rarely attempted to. Now my 3 are 8, 6, and 3 and I can craft during the day if I want but I sure don't regret putting it on hold the first few years. Enjoy your new little one!!!!

To scrapbook more. For some reason that I can't identify, I shoved that aside and spent lots of time making cards and 3-D items in 2008. Actually, for the past couple years! And I miss scrapbooking. I'd like to become involved in the scrapbooking community here on SCS and participate in their challenges and VSBNs. Plus, I developed pictures my late grandfather took while he was overseas during WWII and I want to finish scrapbooking them for my mother. She doesn't say it, but I know she misses him (and my grandmother) a LOT.

That is so kind of you, I am sure she would love it and be so touched.

I spent the last 2 months or so only doing cards and I would like to scrap more.

I have already started my "stamp to spend" challenge on an excel spreadsheet, beginning with the cards I made last night. I was busy stamping and have $18 to spend so far...

Get and keep my craft room organized.

Congratulations!

If you want to stamp while caring for an infant and then toddler, which is harder, LOL!, I recommend that you set up a spot in a room that baby/toddler can't get to. A card table in the corner of your bedroom, perhaps. Most babies nap a lot, but you'll get frustrated if you have to drag stuff out and then put it away for safety or to clear the dinner table.

Having a space dedicated to paper crafts kept me sane through the early years, even though I didn't get a lot of time in it. But that's okay, because our little ones need us and honestly, they really are the cutest things and they grow up so very fast!

I'm going to set a goal, again, to send out everybody's birthday cards. One reason I got into making cards is because I am TERRIBLE at this! And I procrastinate the making of the card until it's too late to send it on time.
So, I think the New Year's goal of "Procrastinate less" will work in many situations!

1.) Use the stamps I have. I will go to the SCS gallery & "search" for inspiration
2.) Card stash. My current one is very low.
3.) Continue to get organized. It's an ongoing process.
4.) Use my hobby to support worthy causes. February I am participating in a crop that the proceeds go to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fundhttp://www.cropoutdiabetes.org/Crop_Out_Diabetes.php
5.) Become a Team manager for The Angel Company

Everyone has great goals! Mine are:

1) Take more pictures of the kids - just got a new camera so maybe now my pics will come out better and I'll take more
2) Work on my kids scrapbooks - they're 5 and 8 and I still have gotten past the first year for either of them
3) Build a card stash, especially kid birthdays which I'm always scrambling for
4) Work on one christmas project a month - I will not fall behind like this year
5) Use up my DP - I collect it, I love it, I drool over it frequently -- only rarely does it ever make it into a card
6) Start a blog

Okay... just putting down my goals is intimidating!

1. Work on Christmas cards/tags throughout the year (decide how many per month).

2. Work on Christmas projects throughout the year. Pick one and mass produce if possible.

3. Start a gallery.

4. Start a crafting blog.

5. Scrapbook more.

6. Make at least enough cards/things from each of my sets to justify having it, according to price. By this I mean if a set is valued at $15, then I would want to make at least say seven or eight cards (value at $2 each or so) from it to make up for the purchase. kwim? Yes, this will ease the guilt, I hope! lol Seriously, if it is being used, it doesn't bother me if I have a lot.

7. To make up a birthdays calendar and work ahead so I can quit the mad scramble to get a card in the mail. I HATE being late!

8. Work up a daily crafting schedule. Pare down my home and out with the junk so that housework and chasing after four kids takes the minimum necessary effort, so that I can focus on what I love to do best, stamping and crafting and photography and scrapbooking and writing! This has been such an area of frustration for me but I know I have to be the one to streamline things, especially in the house. After all, if this is my passion, it only makes sense to weed out the superfluous, whether it is too many dishes or Christmas decorations, etc.

I think that will help me immensely in the long run. Nothing makes me more frustrated than not having time to create.

Wow, I guess it is going to be an interesting year! I am going to print out this and post it for myself.

Use what I have
Use what I have
Use what I have
Oh, and get my scrapbooks up to date (I'm only 1/2 a year behind but I want to be right up to date)

Default crafting goals for 2009?

I would love to work ahead and make cards for my stash, but I also want to check out local outlets for selling my creative efforts. I started to do this a few months ago, but it has taken a while to get started. A friend who is a hospital volunteer gave me some ideas after the small shop in out tiny hospital turned me down because the items were "homemade". She gave me five good leads that I intend to pursue! I probably won't make a lot, but I would like to see what the market is in our little town.

I need to scrapbook more. I made a birthday album for my recently married daughter of a cruise that she and her new hubby took and I forgot to include a wad of photos that somehow got seperated from the herd, so I've got to scrap those pages so that they can be included in the album. I've not done any of those projects for me.

I would like to branch out a bit in the new year and try more three-D projects and try some new things, especially using templates and utilizing my ScorPal for projects. That tool has added such a professional look to my cards, plus speeded up my production. I can still remember the days when I would MEASURE each card for folding and make tiny pencil marks, fold and erase! Sheesh! WAWOT! (what a waste of time!)

Now I need to print these goals out so that I don't forget them! Happy holidays to all of you! I have a feeling that this will be a good year for crafters like us. People are starting to hunker down, both in their houses ( to save money) and in their mentalities. This past year's news has really kicked us all in the patootie and I think that more than ever, people will appreciate and value what is made by a real person and from the heart.

What do you mean by "stamp to spend" challenge? Do you put a cost on the cards you make and make that the amount you can spend on 'stuff'?

I am going to finish all the unfinished projects from last year..........before I start any new ones!!! What a concept!!
I am going to spend less time on SCS and more time actually scrapbooking and stamping. hehe
More time scrapbooking and less card making as I have found since I started card making the scrapbooks are lacking!
I am going to worry less about the "perfect house" and spend more time doing what I love!!

I know my favorite gifts are those that are handmade. My mom told me the other night that she'd love to make a gift for a friend of hers, but this friend is "so crafty" that my mom feels her gift would be inadequate. I told her that I love EVERY handcrafted gift I get and that I have never measured one against mine (I am not implying I am a talented crafter, I was just trying to let my mom know that her friend most likely doesn't judge others' efforts against her own).

1. Use what I have until I have made a sizeable dent in the stash!,
2. Clean out my stamp room so I can find what I have in order to accomplish goal number 1. Sell, donate or trade excess stuff!
3. Make more cards rather than spending so much time looking for inspiration here, on blogs and everywhere, then bookmark all the stuff I like, then never do anything with it.
4. Use those cards to support all those causes (cards for heroes, cards for cancer survivors, cards for sick children) that I always say I will and then never get around to.
5. Finish unmounting those stamp sets I am keeping
6. Make some Christmas cards every month so I actually send hand made cards to everyone next year
7. Learn how to scrapbook digitally.
8. After 3 half hearted attempts, actually work on a blog so i can join in all the cool blogger stuff!
9. Squeeze in an extra couple of hours to each day in order to accomplish list.

Hey I like this idea! Three years sounds like a good estimate, too.

Hmmmm.... I like the idea, but I don't think I could do it.
